Mr. Barcus, Mr. Taylor, Mayor Allen, The I-lon. Govemor Lausche. Government Day Every year for the past five years, Government Day has been held at Montpelier High School, Over 300 students from Williams County participate in this program. Prior to workshop, meetings were held with a planning committee of teachers and two students selected by the school. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the problems which the youth wanted to discuss, After the committees were chosen, a training period was set up by Lawrence J. Taylor of Hillsdale College to brief the students who would help run the workshop, On the day of the big occassion, students and teachers assembled in the Montpelier auditorium to ask questions, During the meeting the secretary recorded the six proposed questions and the group decided upon the one which their spokesman would ask the appropriate panel official. The state, county, and municipal officials participating in the project were seated in the front of the auditorium. Each panel of officials was designated by printed signs. Featured at the'meeting was Frank Lausche, John Brown, Floyd Barcus, Dr, Lawrence Taylor at Drake. li

A Cliristinqis tree and decorations were the theine for this dance. A week or two prior to this event, candidates for King :ind Queen were noniinated by the iinder- classnien. The King and Oiieen were chosen by students dropping nioney into gi box, niarlied with the niinie of the candidate, and whieh was placed iinder their picture, The nioney was theii counted and the eonple who had received the niost would reign over the dance. Entertainment for the evening was provided for by llill lfreese who did excellent iniitation of Elvis Presley and by David Neilands gave his ver- sion of Andy Griffit's record, Whitt It was Was Football. Needless to say, the response from the stndent body showed their appreeizition ol' these acts. The faciilty ehiiperoned the stiidents at the dance. The niiisie which was enjoyed by till, was pro- vided by oiir school orchestra. Then Caine the time that every- one had been anticipating. Roger lvloeherrnan annoniieed that Joe lios- rator had been chosen as Kingg Joe, in tiirn, :innoiineed that l,inda Kil- patrick was Oneen, They were crowned and the dzinee eoniiinied.
