Symbolic of the pioneer era is the whip of the Wagon Master. lt represented authority, strength of character, and the trust of a traveller in the guiding ability of a fellowman. Today, a century later, our generation is travelling. We are seekers, and we have put our trust for guidance and direction in our faculty and administration. They did not fail us. What we do with our chosen symbol, the diploma, will determine if we have failed them. Z ,4- ,I trfl' .1 A-RN'N ,l xx l ,ff xx ,f , N -I s I e ff DNINISTRQTION HND FF-neon-5

The pioneers, our grandparents and great-grandparents, settled this area of the West many years ago. Since that time, it has been you, our parents, who have furthered the development of our valley. In so doing, you guided us in our childhood and school education. Because we appreciate your guidance, this, our 1960 Idamont, is dedicated to you, our parents.

1-f.:t':i . N' - Harold Phillips Worthy objectives are essential to progress-and an absolute necessity for true happiness. It is my wish that all students set up objectives or goals that contribute to the improvement of society and self. Objectives that will preserve the American way of life: that will lead to a burning desire to learn and seek for truth: that will lead to appreciation and pride in the liberties we enjoyg that will lead to an understanding of the American concept upon which this country was founded. Preservation of the essential dignity of man under Cod and the Law. Like the track of the wagon train that has been embossed in the historical development of our nation, let your mark of achievement be deep and worthwhile. arf' is P R I N C I P A L V' , W . t xl, ., 'f 'ix lv., S Milli' U P E R l N T E N D E N T A. J. Winters 1960 Seniors of Montpelier High School: With your graduation this year the roster of lVl.H.S. Alumni will total 2371, beginning with the first graduating class in 1910 with two graduates. You thus become a part of a good sized intellectual army of which your Alma Mater is justly proud. Very many in these ranks have reached enviable distinction in various fields of post-high school life. We challenge you to become a creditable segment, individually and as a class, in this growing and self-selecting group. There is always room at the topl SCHOOL BOARD -my M Left to right: Bob Johnson, Sivel Nielson, Amos Hulme, Superintendent A. J. Winters, Marriner Jensen, and Lloyd Sleight. Often cussed and discussed, yet loyal in their efforts for better schools in Bear Lake County, these men have burned the midnight candles many times in our behalf. 6
