Fllllllwllllll Comparung the Loyalsock Creek wuth our school days mught seem a luttle fantastuc to some people but let s just dream a but let our thoughts wander There s somethung near and dear to every one of us un both the Loyalsock and our l2 years of school Iufe at Montoursvulle The Loyalsock Creek flows unto pucturesque Sus quehanna Ruver here at Montoursvulle and thus the dreamy water whuch flows so peacefully through the mountaun caverns and gullues wends uts way to the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantuc Ocean Luke the uunctuon of the Loyalsock Creek and the Susquehanna Ruver at the south end of Mull Street we members of the l95l graduatung class of the Montoursvulle Area Jount Hugh School have ended one phase of our uourney through lufe We are now un a larger stream Lufe may travel more swuftly there may be more obstacles Luke the many trubutarues of the Loyalsock there are many factors that have added greatly to our edu catuon and flowed unto a part of our school lufe To older lovers of the Loyalsock Valley the names of Hoagland s Run Lrck Run Wallus Run Mull Creek Kettle Creek Luttle and Bug Bear Creeks and many other names brung back pleasant memorues Lukewuse those trubutarues that added to our school lufe hold enchantment un our pleasant mem orues of school days Many fushermen agree that they caught larger fush un Canada and probably amassed the legal lamut un a shorter tume un Pune Creek However for real engoyment nothung can compare wuth fushung un the Loyalsock and vusutung such favorute places as Red Rocks Sandy Bottom Berch lsland the Old Sow the Yellow Jackets the Narrows and other lovable sutes There are many much larger school systems Several schools have better football teams and bands compared wuth Montoursvulle Hugh but snncerely we all love and boost our school as the very best un our estumatuon Probably no man loved both the Loyalsock Creek and the Montoursvulle Schools more than the late Charles Lose who dued un 1940 One of the most promunently known and loved educators and legus lators un Pennsylvanua Dr Lose was presudent of the Montoursvulle Board of Educatuon when the present Senuor Hugh School stone structure was erected un l93l We wull have sweet memorues of thus buuldmg all our luves The Loyalsock, A Trout Stream, wrutten by Dr Lose us consudered a masterpuece He wrote thus un the muddle of the 1920 s after he had become blund Thus book us one of the funest of the many trubutes wrutten to the Sock Mr Lose pounts out that among the mountauns of Northern Pennsylvanua un a deep and somewhat name Lawusaquuck sugnufues Muddle Creek called by the whute man Loyalsock It us the muddle of three parallel creeks Muncy, Loyalsock and Lycomung People from all corners of the world who have ever vuewed the Loyalsock marvel at uts magnufucent natural beauty and most agree theur luves have been enruched by seeung ut May our luves be gust luke the Loyalsock' Prob ably our fondest wush at thus umportant tume un our careers us that our acquauntances may feel theur luves have been enruched by knowung us We hope that no matter how many people they may meet an the future we luke the Sock wull hold furst place un theur hearts I ' ' I I D D I u ' u , . - I ' ' I , - - I .
