AME OFFICERS: Patricia Douds, Secretary, Linda Hupp, Treas- RICA Many of our girls are active in a national or- ganization known as the Future Homemakers of America. Any student who is taking or has taken a home economics course is eligible for member- ship. The over-all purpose is to help individuals im- prove personal, family, and community living. This is accomplished by promoting a growing appreciation of the joys and satisfactions of home- making, by fostering a development of creative leadership in home and community life, and by furthering an interest in home economics. Its major activities included a formal initiation which was held on December 10 in the cafeteria. A mother and Daughter Banquet has been planned for the spring. At that time a Hobo Day has also been planned. On this day, the members will dress in old clothes and will be on call to do odd jobs around the community for a small fee. Le Cercle de Francais The French Club was organized at Montour this year with the purpose of providing French students a greater opportunity to use the French language and to increase their knowl- edge of French people and their customs and history. To be a member of the club, a stu- dent must be enrolled in a second year French class. The meetings are conducted entirely in French. As a newly o-rganized club, the list of activities for this year was limited to guest speakers and viewing slides. Many new and exciting plans are now underway for future years. Muha. F.T.A. The Future Teachers of America is a national organization designed to interest students in the field of education. The club is composed of stu- dents who have plans of pursuing a teaching career. Being members of this club, the students be- come acquainted with the important role a teacher plays in our democracy. The opportunities and responsibilities of the teaching profession are made available to the stu- dents through the club.
