FAA Xl A n N.ll.5., one of the most highly regarded student organizations in our nation today, is comparatively new to Nlontour High School. The chapter was installed on May 20, 1959 with twenty-seven eharter nlemhers, who were initiated by the chapter from Stowe High School. The seniors of the class of 1960 who had been tapped as charter members had the privilege and honor of initiating seventeen ad- ditional seniors and nine juniors making thirty- six members totally to the X.ll.S. Membership is determined on the basis of four qualifir-ations sv--srholarship, leadership, character. and service. A far-ulty vouneil. those teaehers who haxe the candidates as students, elects the meinhers according to the above qualifir-ations. junior nieinlmers must have a 90 per eent an-rage. senior members, a B awrzige. Puhlman. The Student Council occupies an important role in the school throughout the year. The council is composed of representatives from each class, homeroom, and organization. It enables pupils to assist in planning school activities: and, at the same time, it provides the opportunity for practice in democratic action and living. The Student Council pro- motes any project that will be of benefit to our school. Good citizenship and satisfactory scholastic average are prerequisites for Student Council members. KR 46 1

This organization works in vonjunetion with the school newspaper. During the year. the group holds a danee. the proceeds of which are used to purchase awards to he presented at the annual Honors Assernhly. Typewriting, producing hooklets, and preparing of tickets for affaire are a few of the numerous Serviees performed hy this organization.
