Mlrror 1960 Montour I-hgh School I Mcliees Rocks Pennsylvama 0 I V1 11- 7 Foreword The Montou As the time before graduation grows short, we, the Class of 1960. would like to look back on our first complete year in our modern school in a modern world. Though we attended classes within its walls for only one year, our school will come to mind first each time we reminisce about school days. Through the Mirror we would like to present a pictorial view of our new high school. As you look through the various sections, we hope the pictures of events and people will bring back happy memories of your school years. For some of the Seniors, this book will be their only tangible connection to Montour High School, for they will travel far. Many others will return to visit the school, but it will have changed. This book will always show Montour High School as it is to us in our world of 1960. To the underclassmen, let this book be a testament to the way we, the Seniors, kept alive the honor and the spirit of our school. We sincerely think they will continue to do the same. It is almost time for us to leave our Alma Mater, but we will always have Hmemories that linger constant and true, memories we cherish, Montour High of you. 2 I lrror Reflects AdIU1Ifl1SlI'dUOH Fax ultv Ac tu 1t16's Spm TS SFHIOTS Adv ertlsnmflnts 122 . Each morning as we enter your massive doorways or walk your lengthy corridors, we experience a feeling of pride. Your every characteristic is symbolic of the modern way of life for which you are preparing us. Because you play such an important role in our lives, we feel indebted to you. The council is composed of representatives from each class, homeroom, and organization. It enables pupils to assist in planning school activities: and, at the same time, it provides the opportunity for practice in democratic action and living. The Student Council pro- motes any project that will be of benefit to our school. Good citizenship and satisfactory scholastic average are prerequisites for Student Council members. The purpose of the organization is to instill a desire for creative writing in the membership and to keep all persons informed of the events of the school. The organization holds a yearly dance in May, at which deserving seniors are honored. Nomina- tions for these awards are accepted in April and voted upon approximately one week prior to the dance. As a newly o-rganized club, the list of activities for this year was limited to guest speakers and viewing slides. Many new and exciting plans are now underway for future years. Any student who is taking or has taken a home economics course is eligible for member- ship. The over-all purpose is to help individuals im- prove personal, family, and community living. This is accomplished by promoting a growing appreciation of the joys and satisfactions of home- making, by fostering a development of creative leadership in home and community life, and by furthering an interest in home economics. Its major activities included a formal initiation which was held on December 10 in the cafeteria. A mother and Daughter Banquet has been planned for the spring. At that time a Hobo Day has also been planned. On this day, the members will dress in old clothes and will be on call to do odd jobs around the community for a small fee.
