Morgan. r The Monti High Boys' Ski Team, coached by Mr. Goldych, took on this year's season with vigor. Captains Peter Van Etten and Shawn Laufersweiler have led the team to a perfect record of 6-0. The teams that fell to Monticello were Liberty, Falls- burg, and Warwick. The Panthers have also won every OCL meet so far. Monticello has always had at least five racers in the top ten and at least eight in the top twenty. This year is no exception. Shawn Laufersweiler and Bob Catalano have done an outstanding job this year, with one or the other placing first in every race. Congratulations to all members on a great job and a fantastic season. 23 GIRLS' ALPINE SKIING Kneeling L-R: L. Morgan, K. Fells. Standing L-R: P. Monroe, A. Ledina, D. Horowitz, D. Laufersweiler, K. Savickas, R. Mendels, H. Monn, L. Glass. The undefeated Girls' Alpine Ski Team finished their mid-season with a 9-0 record, and the girls captured the OCL North Division championships under the leadership of Coach Samuel Goldych and captains Debbie Horowitz and Kris Savickas. They are expected to do well in the Championship Ski- Off this February. Good luck, girls! 24 25 fo O' BOYS' CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING Bottom Row L-R; R. Van Etten, J. Pammer. Second Row L-R: L. Rossa, J. Platt, R. Lacy, B. Herman, S. Borko, J. Bogart. Top Row L-R: C. Seidler, Coach W. Bergstrom, M. Kennedy. Due to the lack of snow in the 1982-83 season, the Cross-Country Ski team has had to resort to much dry land training. The boys' team has lost some of its depth; however, all members have shown a lot of improvement. The entire team will compete in an Empire State Game Qualifying Race. A few top members will hopefully qualify to compete in the Intersectional race in Lake Placid in March. Last year, Jim Pammer, captain of the boys' team, placed sixth in New York State and is expected to be in the top three this year. Good Luck! 27 QZ GIRLS' CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING Bottom Row L-R: B. MacAdam, L. Rauch, C. Kopplin, J. Kenney, T. Peters. Middle Row L-R: S. Grant, E. Cohen, K. Stensland, H. Galligan. Top Row L- R: Coach W. Bergstrom, K. Keller, S. Monroe, T. Burke, M. Smith. The Girls's Cross Country Ski Team is undefeat- ed in their 1982-83 season thus far. Due to the lack of snow, the team has been forced to practice on concrete, making use of their roller skis. Even so, they have overpowered the three teams they have competed against, and Coach Bergstrom is positive that they will be undefeated at the close of the season. Captain Brenda MacAdam will attempt to lead the team to Section 9 championships. Good luck, girls! 29 30 JV BOYS' BASKETBALL Kneeling L-R: T. Armstead, M. Snowden. Standing L-R: S. Strong, L. Mathis, R. Reuss, C. Patt, A. Weeks, B. Nevins, P. Williams, D. Larkin, K. Drew, S. Rosenblum, I. Jarratte, M. Watson, Coach A. DeFeo. The Boys' Junior Varsity Basketball Team made great strides this past season. Capturing the Billy C. Moran Memorial Tournament at Delaware Valley, the boys realized how their hard work and self- discipline could pay off. In early season games, the boys continued to win. It was the best season a JV team had since 1968. The players are anxiously awaiting the OCL JV playoffs. Coach DeFeo attributes the excellent season to the team leadership exhibited by captains Mike Snow- den and Terrence Armstead, as well as to the hard work of the rest of the team. 31 BOYS' VARSITY BASKETBALL Kneeling L-R: D. Gray, S. Almadovar. Sitting L-R: B. McCoy, R. Stubbs, S. Cummings, L. Williams. Standing L-R: H. Armstead, E. Manson, J. Armstead, T. Nowlin, K. Williams, R. Morgan, T. Watson, Coach Irish. The 1982 Varsity Basketball Team is composed of six seniors who have contributed greatly to this team and will be missed sorely after they graduate. Hoopsters Eric Manson and Rodney Morgan and Kenny Williams never failed to pro- duce a record number of points per game to help the team chalk up another victory. Other members of this fine team have per- formed to their potentials and have always been able to play their best whenever called upon. These outstanding members include Troy Now- lin, who is widely known for his slam-dunks and spectacular lay-ups; Lance Williams, whose quickness adds a great deal to the fast-moving pace on the court; Brian McCoy, whose quick thinking in tight-spots; and other members who have added so much to please the fans of Monti- cello and their coach, Mr. Robert Irish. The Pan- thers closed their year with a surprising but well- deserved second place trophy in the Class B Sec- tion 9 tournament. In accomplishing this, they had to get by Wallkill, Nyack, and Port Jervis before losing to Burke in the finals. Great going! 34 BOYS' INDOOR TRACK Bottom Row L-R: J. Horvath, E. Jung, G. Jung, Second Row L-R: J. Robinson, R. Morgan, R. Condron. Third Row L-R: J. Fleischer, K. Lawler, C. McManus. Fourth Row L-R: P. Rossiter, J. Gumbs, R. Costa, C. Pranis. Fifth Row L-R: K. Kurthy, D. Price, P. McCarthy. Missing: D. Sosa, L. Wallser, J. Armstead, R. Armstead. Indoor track requires extreme dedication and 100% effort of those involved. For the Boys' Indoor Track Team to be at the top in their league matches, usually held at West Point or Rockland County Community College, the team is forced to run out- side in the sometimes sub-zero weather. Coach Ken- neth Garry and his assistant. Chip Button, have done a fine job in bringing the team to its potential. The team is divided into five different groups: Sprinters, middle distances runners, distance run- ners, jumpers, and shot putters. A great asset to the team this year has been the Irish exchange student, Ray Condron. All teammates have performed exceptionally this year. Their hard work and effort brought them to a second place finish in the OCL. 35 GIRLS' INDOOR TRACK L-R: G. McRae, D. Burr, L. Mithcell, C. Costa, K. Austin, L. Adams, J. Phipps. MISSING: L. Rossiter, S. Moore, R. Adams, D. Tomlinson, M. York, I. Almadovar., A. Clopton, C. Hamilton, C. McCoy Under the direction of Coaches Ken Garry and Chip Button, the Girls' Indoor Track Team was a major contender in the OCL league this year. The team traveled to Cortland, N.Y. and placed first in the Southern Tier Track Invitational. The most valuable player of the meet was Gwen McRae, tripling in the 55 meter dash, long jump, and the 300 meter dash. Winning this meet was the highlight of the season in that every team member contributed to the win. Good job, girls, and keep up that great Monticello spirit! 36 JV GIRLS' SOFTBALL C. Cassidy, C. Costa, V. DePuy, L. Hulbert, T. Jasuta, J. Keeney, L. Kraemer, K. Keller, D. Laufersweiler, R. Mendels, A. Nola, A. Smith, D. Tomlinson, J. Roycroft, K. Talos. The JV Girls' Softball Team had a fairly good season under the direction of Coach Karen Atack. Their real strength was in their superb team spirit, and their excellent hustle and determination helped to develop their team stamina. Coach Atack looks forward to another great season this year. Good luck, Monties! 39 GIRLS' VARSITY SOFTBALL Bottom Row L-R: K. Thomas, L. Sze, J. Sze. Middle Row L-R: B. Welsh, S. Krekun, L. Gordon, S. Villena. Top Row L-R: O. Rodriguez, K. Garlick, M. Brown, J. Kinne. MISSING: Coach D. Wood, D. Collura. The Varsity Softball Team suffered an agonizing season again, but managed to keep their spirits high in a time of depression and frustration. Co-captains Lucy Sze and Barb Welsh did their best to keep their teammates going by boosting their spirits and urg- ing them to go on. The girls succeeded in keeping the scores of their games fairly close, always giving their opponents a hard time and remaining deter- mined to the end of every game. The team will sorely miss seniors Lori Gordon, Lucy Sze, and Odette Rodriguez, but will compen- sate for these losses by working extra hard and driving for that long- awaited win. 41 BOYS' OUTDOOR TRACK L-R: I. Katz, J. Bryan, J. Horvath, K. Lawler, R. Morgan, E. Jung, J. Gumbs, A. Dumas, S. Kopplin, B. Costa, R. Santiago, M. Castillos, C. McManus, M. Kennedy, J. Armstead, T. Kaufman. MISSING: M. Bradley, K. Carney, C. Daniels, G. Frick, E. Garcia, K. Kennedy, W. Lopez, A. Piper, O. Santiago, M. Vanlnwegen, B. Walker, J. Washington. The Boys' Outdoor Track Team came through with a great 1982 season under the coaching of Kenneth Garry and assistant Coach Chip Button. Through the tremendous effort put forth by the team leader, George Frick, as well as the rest of the team, Monticello finished high in the standings. Their winning of sectionals was a great accomplish- ment. Key performances were put out by George Frick, in the 55 meter hurdles and the 400 intermediate hurdles; Mark Bradley in the 55 meter dash and the 4 x 100 relay; John Washington in the 4 x 100; and Oscar Santiago in the 4 x 800. These few greats are among the other team members who were always there to help and come through when needed. It is inevitable that the Panthers will be able to pull it off again this year. Good going, guys! 43 GIRLS' OUTDOOR TRACK Sitting L-R: C. McCoy, C. Kopplin, D. Kaufman, K. Stensland, B. MacAdam. Kneeling L-R: C. Bennett, L. Burns, K. Kurthy, R. Adams, J. Phipps, C. McRae. Standing L-R: Coach L. Bryant, D. Burr, M. York, L. Rossiter, S. Moore, L. Mitchell, C. Hamilton. The team performed tremendously well last year due to terrific efforts by every team member. The team placed quite high in sectionals. Outstanding efforts were made by Gwen McRae in the 55 meter dash and in the 400 meter dash. She destroyed the previous record in the 400 meter dash by running the race in the time of 59:5. Lauren Rossiter cleared 5'2 in the high jump. The team of Stephanie Moore and Margaret York shocked the coaches with their amazing throws and distances in the shot-put competition. All other members contributed greatly to this memorable season. Good luck to this year's team! 44 ' ' .. 45 MAT MAIDS D. Tagliamonti, L. Knofp, A. Volpe, P. Henry, L. Giarrusso, S. Villena. These six girls have done the outstanding job of cheering the wrestling teams on. They have an enormous amount of school spirit, and should be commended by the student body for the great job they're doing. Keep up the good work, girls! 46 BOOSTER CLUB L. Dantzler, W. Pace, E. Stubbs, D. Ford, B. McCoy, V. Bickham, S. Walker, C. Santos, J. Armstead, A. Williams, T. Green, R. Paramore, Miss Levinson. When the cheerleaders disbanded, a group of twelve girls volunteered to carry on the support of the school teams. Student Council bought them sweatshirts, and now they can be seen cheering their teams on from their places in the stands. We thank the girls and their advisor Miss Levin- son for a great job of boosting school spirit. 47 GIRLS' J.V. SOCCER Sitting L-R: D. Fransica, M. Smith, M. Daniels, L. Kraemer, A. Skalski, S. Weiss, S. Dubin, W. Galligan, Standing L-R: T. Strack, Scorekeepers, T. Peters, J. Long, L. Morgan, R. Mendels, M. Rush, L. Geyer, Coach D. Wood. Although this year's JV Girls' Soccer Team did not have a winning season, the girls had fun and improved their game each time out. There were no stars, according to Coach Wood, who tried to form team players. Every girl contributed and got better in her position. Linda Kraemer and Mary Daniels were among the high scorers; Ann Skalski contributed greatly with her running and passing. The team thanks Ms. Deb Wood for her guidance and support and wishes her well next year. 48 49 50 VARSITY GIRLS' SOCCER Kneeling L-R: C. Kopplin, K. Stensland, D. Laufersweiler, D. Tomlinson, H. Monn, K. Fransica. Second Row L-R: Coach L. Bryant, C. Pitturo, S. Krekun, D. Kaufman, C. McCoy, A. Clopton. Standing L-R: P. Monroe, D. Burr, T. Burke, S. Monroe, K. Thomas, J. Thomas. The 1982 girls' varsity soccer team started a tough but memorable season with only 16 mem- bers. We stood by each other during the frustrating first half of our season. We lost two teammates to serious injuries, but welcomed four from the junior varsity team. Out of a total of seven games, we lost five; four by only one goal. But we refused to give up. With the support of our coach, Larry Bear Bryant, and the strong desire within us, we went on to win five of our remaining seven games. This record placed us in fourth position in Section 9 Class B playoffs. Our overall record was no indication of our true abilities. In fact, three of our members played in the all-star game: Carlene McCoy and Karen Thomas, both first string, and Janet Thomas, second string. Also, two seniors were asked to attend the Excep- tional Seniors' game: Janet Thomas and Hilde Monn. Thanks for the memories and good luck next year! 51 BOYS' TENNIS Sitting L-R: M. Lerner, K. Stoloff, C. Schenker. Standing L-R: R. Heimowitz, J. Glotzer, R. Maurer, L. Cooke, Coach E. Williams. MISSING: C. Seidler, S. Davidson. The 1982 Monties tennis team suffered through a disappointing 6-8 season in the very competitive OCL. Lost from the team were number one player Jeff Glotzer, and number three, Keith Stoloff. This year's team will miss them sorely. Returning lettermen Craig Seidler, Roy Heimowitz, Chris Schenker, and Scott Davidson will have to play to the top of their potential for this year's team to show improvement. Good luck, guys! 52 53 GIRLS' TENNIS Sitting L-R: D. Horowitz, P. Schiff. Kneeling L-R: R. Klein, M. Ledina, R. Gitlin, E. Cohen, D. Lauterstein. Standing L-R: J. Velton, J. Freed, S. Grant, D. Berkowitz, K. Savickas, D. Cahill. MISSING: Coach K. Atack. The girls' tennis team suffered a tough season this year, but under the supervision of Coach Karen Atack and the leadership of singles captain Deb Horowitz and doubles captain Patti Schiff, the girls stuck together and finished the season with a win- ning attitude. Six members of the Monties' team went to the O.C.L.'s. These were: Deb Horowitz, Dale Berkowitz, Liz Cohen, Riki Gitlin, Patti Schiff, and Sandra Grant. We wish you good luck for next year. Keep up that great attitude! 55 BOYS' CROSS-COUNTRY Kneeling L-R: R. Condron, D. Price, T. Vlachos, P. Williams, D. Larkin, R. Santiago, B. Costa. Standing I -R: M. Figueroa, P. McCarthy, M. Kennedy, R. Katz, G. Wood, S. Kopplin, B. Sager, J. McDowall, G. Jung, S. Gillespie, R. Miller. MISSING: Coach K. Garry, E. Jung, M. Castillo, J. Horvath. The Boys' Cross Country Team finished the 1982 season with a 10-1 record. Under the leadership of Coach Garry, the team came in second in the Or- ange County League, and second in the OCL Cham- pionship. The boys also finished third in the Sec- tion 9 meet as well as winning two invitationals: The Coleman Invitational and the Saint Pius Invita- tional. 57 58 GIRLS' CROSS-COUNTRY L-R: E. Valdivia, R. Adams, L. Rauch, C. Costa, B. MacAdam, G. McRae, J. Phipps, The Monticello Girls' Cross Country Team fin- ished the season with a 9-2 dual meet record. They placed 4th in both the ORANGE COUNTY League Championship and the Section 9 Championship. This was a fine showing, despite the fact that the team had only six members this year. They also won the Coleman Invitational and placed well at other invitationals. The team members include freshman Chris Costa, sophomores Gwen McRae, Robin Adams and Jackie Phipps, junior Brenda MacAdam, and senior Lauren Rauch. 59 BOYS' J.V. SOCCER The J.V. players looked up to their friends on the Varsity team. Kneeling L-R: E. Rosen, J. Bogdan, D. Moorehead, T. Dogood, D. Fawcett, D. Gittleman, S. MacAdam, D. Trebilcock, D. Walters, B. Nevin, D. Koonis, Standing L-R: S. Bickham, G. LaPolt, P. Murphy, M. Kurth, V. Pitturo, C. Knapp, C. Walker, A. Cooke, D. Morris, J. Fleisher, D. Raponi, B. Kolter, G. Brennan, V. Collura, R. Reuss, H. Cogan, D. Walter, B. Richardson, J. Carnell, Coach Seibert. The Junior Varsity Soccer team, coached by Mr. Seibert, finished the 1982 season with a 8-10 record. The team was led by captains David Trebilcock, Scott MacAdam, and Ronald Reuss. This year can be considered a rebuilding season because most of the team consisted of freshmen. We should look for a very strong team next year with most of this year's players returning to polish off a good season with better knowledge of the game and a lot of valuable experience. 61 62 BOYS' VARSITY SOCCER Kneeling L-R: E. Nordby, R. Morgan, W. Merchant, A. Silva, S. Laufersweiler, D. Foss, S. Almadovar, P. Van Etten, K. Lawler. Standing L-R: Coach E. Kennedy, M. Raponi, B. Olcott, R. Morgan, R. Van Etten, S. Rosenblum, L. Cooke, C. Pranis, K. Gesvantner, P. Rossiter, B. Catalano, MISSING: J. Lescano, S. MacAdam. The 1982 boys' varsity soccer team proved that with the correct attitude, they could meet any goal. The team's final record under the wise coaching of Mr. Edward Kennedy was 11-6-1. At the end of the season, the team was more like a family than twenty guys kicking a ball around. The team picture shows us as we like to think of ourselves: no superstars; just a group of men putting their strength and will every time the opening whistle blew. The seniors on the team were a great crew: Peter Van Etten-the team thanks him for his determination, guts, and victory parties; Chris Pranis-we thank him for his glue-like hands and his sweet talk; Shawn Laufersweiler-the teams thanks him for his courage, speed, skill, and for the O.J. on the bus; Rodney Morgan-we praise him for his willingness to play when called upon for his rhymes on the bus! We'd also like to thank Edwin Almadovar-we now know why your family calls you Skooter : because you skoot all over the field. The teams also thanks Kelly Lawler for talking all through every game, and for his antics on and off the field. Good luck next year. Coach and boys!! 63 BOYS' J.V. BASEBALL Kneeling L-R: D. Raponi, P. Rossiter, D. Langseder, G. LaPolt, S. MacAdam, D. Trebilcock, D. Kunis, Standing L-R: Coach A. DeFeo, K. Gesvantner, B. Sipos, S. Strong, R. Ruggerio, J. Stefl, G. Monteith, C. Wells, J. Baum. Under the leadership of Coach DeFeo, the J.V. boys' baseball team ended the season with a win- ning attitude and a lot of self discipline. Their record of 6-11 was an improvement from the pre- vious year's of 1-17. But, their achievements cannot be measured in terms of statistics. With the help of captains Scott MacAdam and Shean Strong, the best was brought out in each and every one of these admirable boys. They were respected by rival teams for their hustle on the field, and their pride off the field. Coach DeFeo looks forward to a good season in 1983, as most of his players will be returning. Good luck, guys! 64 65 BOYS' VARSITY BASEBALL L-R: R. Bonnaci, T. Van Kuren, M. Raponi, P. Van Etten, M. Romano, J. Goldblatt, C. Pranis, W. Merchant. MISSING: M. Anthony, J. Drillings, J. Lacey, J. Payne, E. Nordby, P. Rush, B. Stott, B. Wilkinson. The 1982 spring varsity baseball team didn't do as well as they might have liked to last season, but through the patience of Coach Kyle Hoar and the team's hard work, this year is expected to be much better. Last year's team record was 4-7 under the leader- ship of team captains John Lacey and Marc Anth- ony. Good luck this season, guys! 67 JV GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL First Row L-R: S. Aponte, J. Cleveland, M, Aponte. Second Row L-R: L. Berg, A. Skalski, T. Manzi. MISSING: M. Macedonio, J. Hastings, E. Kaplan, L. Vucci. Under the leadership of Coach Mary Bury and Captains Sylvia Aponte and Michele Macedonio, the JV Volleyball Team completed its season in first place with an 11-1 record. This year's team will undoubtedly be a repeat of last season's fine perfor- mance as many of the girls are returning to their positions on one of the most respected teams in the league. Good luck! 68 VARSITY GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL First Row L-R: P. Monroe, K. King, J. Meddaugh, A. Raymond. Top Row L-R: R. Gitlin, J. Thomas, S. Grant. MISSING: V. Butler, M. Casanova, N. Crawford, L. D'Das, D. McKoy, B. Pinto, S. Pizano, L. Rubin. The Varsity Volleyball team completed its 1981- 82 season with a 10-2 record, tied for first place with Port Jervis. The team lost its well-played game against Port Jervis but remained one of the best disciplined and developed teams in the league. Good luck to this year's team! 69 • ri ’ i rrxrrna Ainnn BOYS' JV WRESTLING Kneeling L-R: P. Kopplin, D. Mulhern, G. Lewis, F. Garlanger, D. Bennett. Standing L-R: G. Wood, D. Trebilcock, A. Bickham, J. Baum, J. McDowall, F. Rupp, G. LaPolt, Coach K. Hoar. The JV Wrestling Team was led by David Trebil- cock and John Baum. The entire team had a suc- cessful season due to the outstanding quickness of Fred Garlanger and the superb experience of George Wood and other team members, who contributed to the team effort in his own special way. Coach Hoar hopes for a repeat of this successful season when these fellows reach the varsity team. 72 73 BOYS' VARSITY WRESTLING Kneeling L-R: G. Wood, D. Trebilcock, R. Santiago, S. Gray, W. The Varsity Wrestling Team saw a successful season this year. They were successful not only in the win-loss column, but in their material accompli- shemnts, such as running a very organized wres- tling tournament and raising enough money to get the wrestling mats reconditioned. All this was made possible due to the team effort and the dedication of Coach Larry Bryant and Coach Kyle Hoar. The team has a record at mid-season of 7-2, and is being led by co-captains Ivan Katz and Billy Mitch- ell. We will be looking for many more accomplish- ments as the season continues. 75 Bottom Row L-R: K. Talos, R. Callihan, I. Katz, A. Robinson, T. Martin, J. Cleveland, A. Goldfarb. L-R: J. Sze, M. Fund raiser, drives, and dances are just a few of the major projects that student council members will take part in this year. The most important project that will be attempted this year is to arouse school spirit in every student of Monti High. Student council members will try to achieve this goal by having school-in- volved activities, such as pep rallies and fund raisers similar to last year's Almost Any- thing Goes . Opinions of all students are very important to the members of student council. Through polls taken in school, we can tell how each student feels about certain major areas which concern them and their fellow classmates. We will always seek student input and will use these ideas and suggestions to make changes that will eventually benefit the entire student body. No matter how hard the members of this group try to make desired changes and create an atmosphere in school which is appealing to every student, they cannot succeed in their tasks without the aid of every student. Your flow of ideas and suggestions will help make the difference this year. Bottom Row L-R: C. Perez, T. Bogursky, J. Strang, E. Tremper, W. Koskey, K. Boch, T. VanKuren, C. King, V. DeSio, K. She explains Ray Condron is a 17- year-old from Offaly, Ireland. He is one of our four foreign exchange students this year. He is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Garry during his stay in New York. As everyone knows by now, Ray has made a name for himself on the Monticello High Track Teams. He has de- stroyed past school re- cords, replacing them with amazing, faster times. Ray also enjoys that there are no school activities in Norway. According to her, school in the United States is more difficult than in Norway. She enjoys at- tending Monti High just the same because everyone has been very kind to her. Thank you for being so friendly to all of us, Hilde. We will miss you, and we wish you good luck in the future. badminton, but unfor- tunately, Monti High doesn't have a badmin- ton team. During her visit here, Karren is staying with the Glynn family in White Lake. Her hobbies include horseback riding, sla- lom skiing, basketball, and music. Lorenzo enjoys other aspects of American life. He is an avid Atari and Pac Man player. He ex- plains that Italy does not have these exciting video games. He also en- joys listening to Ameri- can music, such as Gen- esis and Pink Floyd. We wish Lorenzo all the happiness in the world and hope that he enjoys the remainder of his stay in our country. Karren is working very hard in Monticello High, although she is receiving no credit for her efforts. She is more concerned with the ex- periences she is having. JUNIOR PROM Queen Denise Schneider and King Michael Vasquez. JUNIOR PROM- ' ONLY TIME WILL TELL The 1982 junior prom was a smashing success! The magical evening began with dancing and socializing among friends in gowns and suits. An outstanding per- formance was given by Mr. Gould, a fantastic magician from Binghamton. The evening was topped off with the crowning of the king and queen. Mike Vasquez and Denise Schneider were rightfully granted this honor. Unlike previous proms, a court consisting of first, second, and third run- ners-up was not chosen. Instead, twenty people from the committee were selected on the basis of the amount of time and energy they contributed. The junior prom of 1982 will always be a treasured memory for everyone who attended. Hopefully the Class of '84's senior prom will be equally successful, but only time will tell. 133 1. C. Allor 2. The deco- rations are put up in September and taken down in April. Burger King, Home of the Whop- per, and also home to many Monti High students. We appreciate the job that local concerns are doing to keep Mon- ticello High School students off the streets at night. WSUL is our local radio station whose only ratings come on possible snow days. We appreciate WSUL's part in announcing school and community events. 182 Monticello Raceway: One of Monticello's great- est attractions. The video craze has hit Monticello at Playland arcade where students practice what they have learned in Computer Class. 183 Snappy dressers. The dress in M.H.S. ranges from the positively preppy to the slightly silly. What?! Did you say I had makeup on?!' I can see better with my glasses off.' 184 See you later, Mojo. There's something crawling on the Listen, the first step to being a good typist is to plug in the typewriter, floor! 185 YEARBOOK STAFF Lauren Rossiter, Co-editor Mr. Robert Rosengard, Advisor Barbara Welsh, Co-editor If you've walked by the yearbook office this year, you've probably noticed people working with pictures, orange pencils, and rulers. These dedicated people belong to the 1983 yearbook staff. Without them, this edition of the Monticello High School yearbook would not exist. Their participation, determination, and perseverance made our job a little easier. We would like to thank each and every one of them for their efforts. We would also like to thank Mr. Robert Rosengard (also known as Gandalf and or Bosengard) who so patiently lent a helping hand and gave wise words of advice when a problem arose. We'll always remember this caring man and treasure his friendship forever. To all underclassmen we would like to offer some advice: Become a member of the yearbook staff when your turn comes around. It's a great experience that we've enjoyed immensely and will remember for years to come, as you will if you join this great part of student life. Finally, we want to thank the Class of 1983. With your support and good wishes, we found a reason to keep going when the headaches and ulcers flared up. We wish you all good things forever and a future filled with happiness, love, and fond memories of your days at Monti High. Today we'll start a new life And we'll say our last goodbyes To all the friends we've grown to love With whom we've laughed and cried. Remembering the fun and laughter. The problems and the fears. And watching all our memories grow Throughout our high school years. The memories of the dances And the new friends that we've met. Vacations, teachers, talking And exams we'd rather forget. Yes, high school days are precious but brief, Where all your dreams come true: It is not the end, but the beginning Of a life we'll start anew. 190 CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 1983 The Future is in Your Hands! Your performance has been exem- plary; your achievement is nonpareil. You have made this business of creating a yearbook a warm, happy effort, and I am proud that you included me in it and allowed me to help. Barbara and Lauren Ann: Your imaginations soared; your organization provided; your efforts yielded a wonderful book. Future editors will have much to live up to. Barbara: Your sense of humor, matching mine; your calm directions; your ability to get me to function: All these qualities and many more make you so special. What luck to have found you! Thank you for yourself: No more nebatibes. Lauren Ann: Your quiet, but efficient work; your ability to get along; your method of dealing with the staff: You should be justly proud of your efforts and their result. Thank you for your hard work and generous efforts! Kelly: Your hard work paid unexpected dividends; your strong character provided guidelines and directions; your sense of humor helped us through the tough spots. ' Debbie: You spearheaded our most successful magazine drive ever, busy as you were, giving the challenge to '84! Always concerned, you reminded us to care. Suzanne: Unassuming, yet effective, you managed the business of the yearbook competently. You always made me feel confident and secure.
