It sees a new Soviet leader, a continuing war in Korea and an uncertain future for the people of the world. These are the year's events as recorded in the annals of history. It has been our purpose in this annual, The Monti 1953, to set before you a record of the events of this school year. In addition, we have attempted to record the activities of the graduating class of 1955 for the last four years at Monticello High School. We have pictured throughout this book our lives as students-the scenes we shall always remember when our days at Monticello High School are over. To Mr. Louis Freeman, our adviser, Mr. Edward Pearlene, our photographer, and Mr. George Tischner, of the W'hitlock Press. our printer, we extend our sincerest thanks. XX'ithout the aid and guidance of these men you would not be holding this Monti in your hands now. Our task is completed. VC'e hope this book will bring you enjoyment now and when you chance again to leaf through its pages, the fond memories of these high school days will unfold before you.
