The play chosen for this years production is Beauty awd the Beef by William Davidson, who is well known as the writer of most successful plays tor high school production The olay is abou a BEAUTY a lovely girl who has too much brain for her own good and a EF a good looking athlete who wants to twink he s smarter than she s G nny hopes that her past on a quiz program will be a closed book now that they have moved to a small town She won t be the teacher s pet any more with an A plus on every paper and the boys will date her like anyone else The captain of the footoal team named Beef has already offered to help her with American history which he can easrly oo since he s been working off a condition in the sublect l-te doesnt suspect that its Ginnys spec al fied and she has it all cold from Columbus to date Ginnys brother is on her side hes sick of berng the brother of the chald wonder ln fact Lester is out to make the school band Since he knows nothing of music he has picked out the bass drum as his Instrument Anyone he says can play a bass drum and he demonstrates with the potato masher and a pan cover Now if he can only get hold of a bass drum' lt turns out that Molly Woods dad owns one and from then on Les is out to bribe Molly into sneaking it out which she finally does wlth terrific and utterly unforseen results Ginny ktows her dad s her chief danger fo he likes to brag of her accord l-te almost spills the secret in a talk with Beef but remembers in the nick ot time But Beet sees Ginnys prize cup and discovers that the girl hes been helping is really tops in the tield Beet leaves and Ginny walking in all dressed up tor her date is heart broken Then to prove to Beef that she Isnt so smart she copie the wrong answers from his exam ln the inquasi tion that tollows each admits to copying but it s Beef who s suspended Thats another catastrophe for without Beet the team cant win the big game' Tl at puts the girls in a Iam with the whole school The only hope is somehow to get the game postponed until Beefs suspension is lifted They get it postponed by putting ipecac in the team s cocoa and what a razzle dazzle that scene is' But horrors' that stunt almost gets them into trouble with the lawl Maybe they arent so brainy after alll Still its all straightened out at the final curtain and Franny dates the frantic Foggy and Sunny has her dates with Beef at last a ago et Ma anne Bro ss S e a ly Wa e B ckh Wa la o G S anley Seyrnou h n d me t 3 C I e Van efna v ca :ze Bo Roscoe V lserb e Weddl C Ka s a Bc J M c Varr M V a M Wa s Mah Ma r C rr n e t-teatt ara Mar e Bro Os TBE T' - ' 1' ' i .
