wm — i DR. JOHN R. YOUNG r A lasting memory of Monliccllo days is our association with Dr. John R. Young, whose frequent informal meetings with students lend a distinctive flavor to campus life. Both Dr. and Mrs. Young are well known for their cordial hospitality in the Kvergreens and their attendance at college receptions, dances, assembly and vesper programs. An active Rotarian, the president is a member of the board of directors of Alton Memorial Hospital and the Alton-Wood River chapter of the American Red Cross, lie graduated from Marshall College, and received his M.A. and Ph.D., from the University of Illinois. Marshall College awarded him the degree of Litt. D. last year for having won, in the words of the citation, “distinction through merit.

It is a glorious opportunity—and a sobering responsibility!
