HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1952 Sixteen happy, yet frightened pupils entered the doors of Montgomery Twp. School in September, 1940. During our adventures in the ele- mentary grades, we were led by our many able leaders-Miss Flory, Miss Jacobs, and Mrs. Garner. These teachers helped us to prepare for our years ahead in the junior and senior high school. As we advanced to the seventh grade, we moved up to the third floor. We were a nervous, but curious little group of eleven. Under Mrs. Ingall's guidance, We undertook many strange, but inter- esting subjects. As We started out in the eighth grade, we increased our number of students to fourteen. We started practicing our good manners so we could qualify to enter -high school. Our enrollment was decreased to thir- teen. Lois Wollam, our capable leader, did a fine job of conducting our business. Mrs. Johnson helped us with our many problems and difficulties. We were called The Green Freshmen, so the Sophomores had the pleasure of initi- ating us. Then we had a chance to get even when we became Sophomores, so we initiated the Freshmen. We chose Dick Williamson as our President, who did a wonderful job. Mrs. Johnson again, helped us to solve our problems. As we advanced to our Junior year we began looking forward to the com- ing events with an enrollment of ten. We engaged in many activities which were carried out to the best of our abil- ities, such as the class play, and the Junior Senior Banquet. Mr. Rogers, our Class sponsor, helped us with the many trying situations which we were faced with. Soon our final turn of our educa- tional tour was here. In 1940 a group of timid youngsters started to Bradner elementary school. Our first grade teacher was Mrs. At- waters. Continuing through our elementary grades we had the following teachers: Miss Blessing and Miss Canaberry for the second and third grades, Mrs. Hus- ton, fifth and sixth grade. After six long years, We finally reach- ed the seventh grade and were mighty proud of our success. We had made one of our goals at last. A year later, we entered the eighth grade and were quite anxious for the year to end because we longed to be in high school. In September 1949, a group of seven- teen fair, fearful, and frisky, freshmen climbed into the old Model-T Fbrd which was to chug along on a four year educational journey. In our first year we selected Carol Sue Norvell as our driver and leader, with the help of Mr. Stevens. To our surprise, our old Ford chugged us thru a successful year. But at the end of this year Bob Plouck, Violet Hostottle, Molly St. Clair, Carol Norvell, and Doris Gaskalla left us. After filling our Ford with gas and checking its tires, we drove in the fall of '50, Cleo Ostrander was our driver this year and with the help of Mr. Sproul, we finished the year with a bang. In September 1951 we again dusted off our Ford to continue our journey, with Marilyn Molnar as our driver and leader and Mr. Rice as our advisor. Immediately we started thinking of Ways to earn money to entertain the Seniors. We also received our class rings which was indeed a great thrill. To complete our junior year, we gave our class play. We ended our junior year with great anticipation for our Senior year. Happy, but a little regretful we came to the last curve of our journey. We began our Senior year by entering the halls of Montgomery School. Due to the consolidation of Bradner and Wayne High Schools, we Seniors became an ambitious group of twenty-one. After making new acquaintances and friends, We began to look forward and prepare for our graduation. By doing so, we selected the following members to represent us for our Senior year: Dick Williamson, Pres., Dan Schmeltz, V. Pres., Betty Tyson, Sec., Wilma Sidle, Treas.g and Evelyn White, Rep. Mr. Rogers guided us through our final year at Montgomery Local. A project, carried throughout the year was selling refreshments at the games. Other projects consisted of selling magazines, Christmas cards, and collecting scrap paper. We worked very hard for a trip with these various sales campaigns, the senior play, and our annual. Some of us will choose to go further on the road which leads to fame, while others will be content to follow the pathway.
