SEPTEMBER 14, 1958: MHS DEDICATED Dedication of the new Montgomery High School took place on Sunday, September I4, one day before the school first opened its doors to approximately nine hundred hhy Qudenw, The 2 lf2-mHhon-doHar danh designed by architect J. Clarence Felciano and Asso- ciates and built by general contractors Paul Wright and Ben Oretsky, was oFlicially christened by members of the Santa Rosa Board of Education, The Native Sons of the Golden West, and the American Legion. The invoca- tion was said bythe Rev. Father Erwin J. Becker of St. Eugene's, and the Rev. Gilbert J. Johnson of the first Baptist Church offered the benediction. Following a word of welcome by Dr. lloyd K. Wood andinhoduchon of membem ofthe Board of Educa- tion, c delegation from the, Native Sons of the Golden West formally dedicated the school through presenta- tion of the California state flag and a commemorative plaque inscribed with the words Truth, liberty, Tolera- tion.
