The diminu- tive forward has broken all school scoring records, as she has averaged nearly 25 points per game during the past four years. She will be among players starting the sub- region tournament at Vidalia Monday night, as the Rebelettes meet Claxton in the opening round. flfrg jflontgflmmj jflonttnr February 21, 1969 its Rebels Compete In Region 2-B Tourney Tonight Montgomery County’s Rebel basketball team rolled into the second round of tournament play this week, as they won two games, and now compete in the region finals this weekend in Lyons. The Rebels won their first two games in the tournament, defeating Reidsville and Glennville. Then on Wednesday night, they lost 41-40 to Claxton to Vidalia in the sub-region finals. Montgomery meets Waynesboro, 74-39 victors over Metter. at 8:30 Friday. Vidalia plays Metter in the 7:30 game. Winners of the game tonight (Friday) automatically advance to the state tournament in Macon, to be held in Macon next month Tonight's winners meet Saturday for the Region3-B crown. In the opening of the sub-region tournament, the Rebels turned on the steam in the second half to trip Reidsville. The teams were tied at 14-14 at the end of the half, but Montgomery outscored Reidsville 28-16 in the final half to wrap up an easy victory. Steve Montford (15) and Charles Turner (11) led the Rebel scorers. Against Reidsville on Tuesday night, high scorer for the Rebels was Richard Martin, who bucketed 18 points. Steve Montford (14) and Charles Turner (10) contributed to the Rebel victory. On Wednesday night, the Rebels dropped a heart-breaker to Vidalia. The Rebels fought back strong to nearly nip Vidalia. after being down by five points at the end of the third quarter.
