The objectives of study- ing Latin, the basis of all the romance languages, are varied: they include the key to mastering English, broadening oneis vocabulary, and studying the rela- tionship of Latin to English. The French, Spanish, and German students not only learned to express them- selves in these modern languages, but also strove to understand and appreciate the ideals and cultures of the countries from which their studied language came. This year all language students benefited by using modern electronic recording and amplifying equip- ment. Pupils achieved proficiency in language by the able assistance of the language department teachers. ,lf wfxzq !
