Its faculty consisted of five teachers, and the students adopted their own seal, their own ring, and their own colors. The class Of 1927 was outstanding for having won the basketball championship, and for being the schools first graduating class, numbering twelve students. In 1935, a senior high school built in the wilderness was ready to open for classes. The student council submitted three possible names for the school to the Board of Educa- tion. Montgomery Blair was selected, honoring the man who had discovered Silver Spring, and who was referred to as The Father of the Parcel Post System because of his work in President Lincoln's cabinet. From that point on, Blair grew swiftly. The girls' gym was completed in 1936, B building in 1940, D building in 1950, building in 1953, and the boys' gym in 1954.
