VVe could always find the main office buzzing with activity while the staff cooly handled our problems and answered our questions. It took care of the hundreds of records and schedules, issued excuses, and did so many of the numerous jobs necessary for a well-run school. From 9 to 3:30 its ears were filled with the pecking of typewriters, the buzz of the switchboard, and the eager voices of students seeking informationg yet somehow order was main- tained in Blair's nerve center. K. Payne, J. Sale, and D. Christianson, helped to keep the busy office run ning smoothly and efficiently, as a part of the office practice program. 1 155 L. APPLEBY E. MACDONALD J. MORAN R. Pokey Bear, loaded with school spirit, put forth his sentiments on his card and hoped with fy .7 all his little stuffed heart that Blair would be the victor in the oncoming football game. For reading enjoyment and information we turned to our fine library, headed by Miss Stickley. Term paper time rolled around, and to help us in our quest for knowledge was the new assistant librarian, Mrs. Jahn, who guided us to the right books for our particular topic. Here we could study in a quiet atmosphere, fztr away from the clinking and banging of lockers and the loud babble of socializing students. NVe saw many new books added to the shelves, while the new vertical tiles pro- vided us with numerous pictures and articles on a vast number of subjects. THE SENIOR LIBRARY CLUB. Krieger, Silverlogue pho- tographer, spent an evening de- veloping pictures forthe year- book. YVe, of the Silverlogue staff, prepared your yearbook. It seems almost impossible to recall the erlorts which have gone into it, and the countless crises we met. A lost layout, a broken light socket, no flash bulbs-these were a few of our troubles. XVe would just have finished setting up for a picture and be ready to click the shutter, when the bell would invariably ring. Ah well, there was always another day. Another day, that is, until we saw the pub- lisher's deadline wildly approaching. 'lihen the typist's fingers flew, the editors' brains got a workout, and the photographers got a big chance to demonstrate their talent. Columbia Scholastic l'ress As- sociation and National Scholastic Press Association awarded first and second places respectively to our publication uf last year. l'he Silverlogue Cubs learned the fundamentals ot yearbook engineering. VVe sat and stared at the problem in front of us, dumbfounded. VVhat was this mysterious equation set be- fore our bewildered eyes? At the end of the year this equation and many others made logical sense to us, and we thought noth- ing of plotting linear equations on graphs or solving impossible sounding practical word problems. XVe were in a world of geometrical symbols - triangles, trapezoids, parallelograms, and hexagons - while in Geometry class. Here we were faced with a new chnllengeg we knew the answer of what the theorem was, but how did you go about getting it? XVe all started 'l'rig. in a fog, and some of us ended up still in a fog, but for the most part the world of figures and symbols became some- thing real and practical to us, the junior Einsteins uf tomorrow. t'-'stiff' . Complicated equations stared us in the face, but we set out with determination to solve the awesome looking problems, and tried to remember how to apply our knowledge of algebra. -za -'YJ a Q f fi X X i f a if f sf S. Later they will change the wiggly little marks into concise, neat letters to make any employer happy. Every day HB' building sang with the clack of type- writers, the ping of their bells, and the drone of teachers' voices giving dictation. YVe scratched little wiggly figures down on paper and later transcribed them into English, a miraculous thing to those of us who thought this scribbling looked like the work of a Chinese. Perhaps we thought the endless practice and transcribing was fruitless, but our reward was ex- perience for positions in the business world as future secretaries and clerks. Clacking away on their typewriters, J. Berkine and J. Battles concentrated on producing an error-free let ter in typing class. X v , R, K 2.13. . Qrqgiq ,im I 44 ipgii- f. AD. 2-7111 re r o 's a ial 13 I zoo Interest on Savings June was literally 'fbustingu out all over with the Hurry of activities surrounding graduation. Seniors began their exams a week before the underclassmen, and finished just in time to fall in line for Baccalaureate rehearsal. Frustrated seniors bit their nails and wiggled uncomfortably in their hard seats counting out the minutes until they could dash from commencement rehearsals and head for the beach. lVhen at last the whirling seemingly endless confusion straightened out, we, the class of 1955, breathed a sigh of relief and headed home for a day's rest before the big night of graduation. 6:30 rolled around amazingly fast, and last minute butter-flies in the stomach began fluttering wildly as we adjusted over tassels to just the right angle. Then the march! The moment which culminated and climaxed twelve years of study. Proudly we accepted our diplomas and as we stepped from the platform, we stepped into a new role-that of a responsible adult in society. t e year in band cheerleaders chorus congress of classes majorettes orchestra senior committees review student council and committees activity athletic chair and assembly chaplain dance election inter-school relations monogram order publicity safety store student court ways and means welcoming welfare administration art business diversified Occupations dramatics driving english foreign languages guidance health Home economics industrial arts library mathematics music office staff physical education science social studies adv. ertisements calendar classes junior officers juniors senior committees senior officers seniors sophomore officers sophomores - in review continued Clube banking biology boys b club boye planning committee chemistry debating drill team french future doctors and nurxes future homemaker: future teachers girls' b club girls' planning committee ham radio honor society key club library junior officers senior sophomores monogram society national thespians PCP photography quill and scroll radio public speaking rollers science silverlogue Cuba spanish visual aids contents feziturecl :it Blair bluir hi-tory building cafeteria Christmas formal fashion show homecoming housekeeping i speak for democracy mock football game science fair fenior class play senior party Senior trip publicatione prfieco JTHSHICLIN silver Chips silverlogue silver quill CHUIGSI X T C - , QHMQLQH1.
