SCIENCE - mudern power A department in the spotlight in this fast- moving technological world, the science de- partment offered comprehensive courses in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics, Experiments, reports, and first-hand obser- vations kept students and faculty on theirtoes. Formaldehyde or burning sulphur made one aware of the nearness of a lab, or a compli- cated formulae on a blackboard informed a person that he was in a physics class. From soph biology to senior physics, the science department did an interesting job. Sophomore amoeba hunters Betty Bell, John Weiss, Roberta McCleary, Douglas Kruse, Mary Warren, and Pat Johnson kept the 'critters' in focus. Barbara Lewis, Ted Schiek, Stanford Kline, Gayle Bankard worked in the physics lab. r' f.
