The Takoma-Silver Spring High School, forerunner of Montgomery Blair, opened in 1925 and graduated its first Senior Class in 1927. By 1935, the School had grown to eight hundred students and moved to the new Eastem Suburban District High School on Dale Drive. The students of that year, by popular vote, named the new school Montgomery Blair, for the Post- master Ceneral in Lincoln's cabinet and one of the early residents of this community. The spring of 1936 hailed the opening of a gymnasium. In 1941 the Commercial Unit was built and the grounds were landscaped. In 1947 construction began on the Memorial Stadium which was dedicated in the spring of 1948. The modern Industrial Arts Building was completed in 1950. The fall of 1950 gave Blairites a last glimpse of the parking lot, where soon a fifth building will arise. looking Forward By Old Sligo's Winding Waters.
