You unselfishly gave of yourself to advise our class through the ordeals of our junior year and the financial business of our senior year. Mr. Kopec, in your social studies class we learned the horrors of destructible wars and the security of a country at peace. For those whom you taught the beautiful Span- ish language, we say, Adios, Professor, vios con Dios. As the varsity basketball coach and the junior varsity football coach, you led our athletes in the purposeful di- rection of virtuous sportsmanship that you distinctively represent. Through the years you coached us, not only in sports, but in the enduring standards of courage and honesty. We maintain the highest regard for you as teacher, coach, and friend, thus We Wish to present to you our edition of the LA MONTA. CLASSROOM TEACHER Mn. JEROME S. KoPEc: ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION MR. GLENwooD CRIST, Supervising Principal MEMBERS OF CLASS OF 1963: You Were put on this earth for a purpose. Perhaps you have not yet discovered what it is, but eventually you will-the Architect of the Universe never created an unimportant person. The greatest job you have ahead of you is learning how to live with yourself. No matter what you do or Where you go, you cannot run away from your own identity. Be glad you are you. Each of you has been given certain potentials which should be developed to the best of your ability. When this is not done, a per- son usually settles for some monotonous job which brings no sense of joy or fulfillment. Regardless of what life has given you, you can become master of yourself. Do the best you can in everything you do, and you will have that peace of mind you never thought possible. V Sincerely yours, GLENWooD CRIST 6 MR. KENNETH BILLS High School Principal Mn. WILLIAM SANDMEYER Elementary Principal MEMBERS OF CLASS OF 1963: During the past twelve years you have learned many things and de- veloped many desirable traits. Not the least of these are patience and persistence. As you face the future, you will realize that one of the greatest tasks in the world is that of educating ourselves-training and curbing, learn- ing and watching, eliminating the useless, acquiring and enlarging what has value. This requires patience, and with it, persistence. Best wishes and good fortune to each and every one of you. May you always look back upon your school days with satisfaction and pride. Sincerely yours, y KENNETH BILLS MEMBERS OF CLASS OF 1963: Plato once wrote: The direction in which education ' starts a man will determine his future life. We hope our school has helped start you in the right direction. What about the future? Will you stay on course? Will you take advantage of every educational opportunity? This is up to you. CLASS SONG We'll be seeing you In all the strange and distant places. Weill remember your bright faces- The good times, too. There's a wish deep in our hearts That friends and time Will ever entwine. Ne'er let this faith and friendship part, For we'll miss you Our whole lives through. Weill be meeting fate. We pray we are the brave and skilled So crossroads and the future build A path that's straight. Our teachers planned the road with care. The route we take we know is shared. Help shape our lives and new success With reverence and humbleness. We'1l be seeing you, We'll be seeing you, Weill be missing you. Tune-'Tll Be Seeing You -By Doius CLAUDFELTER 32 CLASS POEM Montgomery High, we will remember you, Our lasting memory of you will follow us thro u Although we have inherited the problems of th future, gh e Our high school experiences have handed us the incentive for adventure. We will strive to improve our present shortcom- ings and build on our outstanding assets. When we reminisce of passed years, we'll truly recall your many inspiring gifts. With school pep and support, our athletic boys, depending on stubborn desire and determination, Defeated many difficult opponents and won endearing admiration. Such will our struggle be. But our destination could be easier to reach, remembering that knowledge is the winner's key. We are indebted to the sacrifices of our teachers, We are dedicated to the standards of our leaders. Our life's policy will be based on honesty and highest principles. We will not only operate, But we will also co-operate. For once we have chosen a career, We will give it everything we hold dear. the We will miss all our friends with whom we have had the privilege to spend such joyful years. And a calendar of thanks should be devoted to the faculty and our parents who have helped erase uncountable problems and fears. We will strive at our very best toward the pyramid of happy success. We will show we are proud of our Montgome High through every thought, word and dee For today we follow, tomorrow we lead. -By Dorus CLAUDFELTER CLASSES W OFFICERS President - - JOHN RUSSELL Vice-President - MIKE Koz1oL Secretary - NEDRA BUCHTA Treasurer - - - 101-IN ROBINSON Sergeant-at-Arms - LARRY BAKER CLASS OF 1964 Ellen Aunkst Larry Baker Calvin Barto Claire Cameron George Campbell Patty Claudfelter David Baysore Loretta Beaver Cindy Bogart David Cotner Flora Croman Shirley Eisenhower Nedra Buchta Judy Buck Larry Buck Max Farley Andrew Follmer Rodney Fowler 34 CLASS OF 1964 Ken Frank Doris Fry Andrea Hoover Connie Hoover Larry Grove Madeline Hall Marion Hall Mike Jarrett Jerry Kennedy Penny Kepner I oe Hayter Joyce Heller Polly Hitesman I on Knouse Mike Koziol Greg LaForme Louis Levan Larry Lupold Ray Lynch June Mincemoyer Sharon Morehart Sharon Mowery Shirley McCarty Donna McKee Carol McWilliams George Novinger Darla Nuss Lester Page Gary Markham Don Miller Erika Patz Jay Pauling 35 CLASS OF 1964 Keith Pauling Tom Pauling Faye Ring John Robinson David Pentz Rodney Pentz Dorothy Percival John Russell Paul Shadle james Shaffer Charles Ranck Robert Ravert Shirley Riddell Norma Shaner Robert Sherwood Gladys Shrey Bill Snyder Jane Snyder Gwen Stamets Iudy Weller Caroline Westberg Darlene Winters Gary Stonge Grace Tilburg Grace Vitkus Freda Wommer Ronnie Woodling Donald Wright David Waltman Cheryl Warren Doris Yocum Robert Younger 36 CLASS CF 1965 X First Row: Gary Baker, Dave Holmes, Faye Kahle, Joyce Jarrett, Linda Baysore, Jo Ann Berger, Fonda Jane Bastian, Gail Boden, Nancy Keller, Carl Buck,VJr. Second Row: Priscilla Anderson, Larue Buck, Bill Agnone, Marlin Brouse, Gary Bender, Jim Cotner, Ken Bider, Marshall Childs, Sharon Haskins, Pegi Huff. Special Events JUBILEE QUEEN ERIKA PATZ With Mayor RAYMOND TAYLOR E s i . i E i 65 WELCOME It is indeed my privilege and honor to wel- come all our good friends and neighbors to Mont- gomery during the celebration of our Boroughs 75th birthday. I feel especially honored that my term as Mayor happens to coincide with our 75th jubilee year. This wonderful little community has naturally shown much material progress over the past 75 years but even more important is the spiritual growth, and the reputation Montgomery has ac- quired not only as the best little town along the Susquehannai' but also the friendly townf' Every borough administration has worked primarily toward making all our friends from the surrounding country-side and neighboring towns, welcome to our community. We are most proud that all people like to come to Montgomery to visit, see their friends and enjoy themselves. We promise that this warm friendly feeling will never be lost. Welcome to Montgomery! Enjoy yourself during the celebration and we hope you will re- turn many, many times. RAYMOND R. TAYLOR Mayor J BIL E Mayor Taylor and Visitors. Montgomery Mills Float. Doctor Turner and Kate Thomas.
