At a school assembly May 21, the traditional National Honor Society Tapping took place. The speakers for the occasion told about the four important traits needed for member- ship: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. Each new member signed the register and lit the traditional candle. There were 20 new members tapped into the society. Seniors tapped were Clay Cardone, June Thompson and Vicki Weiss. As a part of the program, Susan Shinnick presented a U.S flag to MHS on behalf of the DAR.

As the big event, graduation, came around there was much excitement in the air. Class President and Valedictorian welcomed the guests and made some comments. The class was honored to have Dr. Russell Warren as the guest speaker for the special occa- sion. A reception was held in the High School Auditorium Here, last good-byes were bid to the Class of 1980, with a hope that the doors of opportu- nity will be opened to them.
