Faculty Aids Under the direction of qualified instructors, home economics and agriculture students work in a building especially equipped for their use. Boys in agriculture classes not only receive information in many areas but also encouragement to help with school maintainance. Added to the regular teach- ings of roles of a homemaker, was a child develop- ment study this year. Many home economics prin- ciples are practiced daily in the MHS cafeteria. Literature Opens Door Unlocking gates to unknown worlds, English teachers conduct extensive studies of literature. Poetry, plays, short stories, and even novels be- come familiar to their classes as the surface and underlying meanings of selections are discussed. Some of the characters met in these works are also greeted again in Latin, MHS’s only foreign language course. Both of these subjects give images of life in past years through famous auth- ors. Montevallo High’s reflection is given also but with a different approach in its marching band. Individuals Throughout the school year students receive help from many places. Librarians, the cafeteria staff, and administrative officials each contribute. Sec- retaries in the office spend many hours preparing records which are essential. Hours are spent by teachers who guide the formation of character and the building of skills in their pupils. As the results are reaped in, not by these who have stood on the sidelines but by the scholars either in high school or college (perhaps even in later years for some) they portray the time instructors have spent.
