Students make a school and add still another dimension to the basic line laid by the faculty. Beginning in Monte- vallo as seventh graders, stu- dents move through six years of active school life. Academic work, field trips, study time, athletic events, and concerts mark but a few of the many facets of the daily program.

Building From The Base It takes peo ple—students and adults alike—adding their talents to supply the necessary quality of feeling that a school develops as the years go by. Faculty, the basis, is the line which forms a foundation on which to build. The administration provides the skills necessary to maintain school functions while they—with the faculty—teach, lead, and direct school affairs and par- ticipate in many educational related activities. Most teachers have clubs and homerooms to sponsor. Many hold positions in PTA and all attend regular faculty meetings and take part in related in-service studies. Coaches spend additional hours developing skills and character among athletes at M.H.S. while others supplement their school responsibili- ties participating in outside activities. Church ministry and music, private teaching, study- ing, “tinkering,” and membership in state and local organizations are but a few of the many endeavors in which Montevallo teach- ers engage.

Adding To The Total Supplying depth to the total school picture, sports hustle in the third di- mension. Excitement, joy, disappoint- ment—all are an integral part of sports. Victory and defeat are meted out daily as students compete in P.E. and on the varsity playing field.
