Weakened considerably bu this loss the Toreadores still played a good brand of basketball throughout the year, considering the dlfficult obs stacles they encountered. Captain Bill Thacker, who was sixth man on last gearfs Championship sciuad, Torn- my Perez, big gun of the Lightweights last gear, and Tornrny Casas, also from lasl year's Lightweights, were the nucleus of Coach Youngman's Cagers. After win- ning their first League contest, the Limiteds faced a series of disheartening set backs, losing each league contest by no more than three points. With two first stringers returning from the previous year and a reserve from last year, Coach Youngman had a good foundation for his team Pete Coniglio, Captain elect, Bill Wardle and Frank Flores were the returning vets, and with Ronald Roberts and Yeizo Qkamuro, the starting five was completed Bob Delgadillo and Stanlox l-londa at one time or another held down first string berths, and each of these boys saw considerable action. With this team composed of iuniors and sophornorcs, e - cepting l-londa, who is the only senior, Monterey experienced another good building year, Ronald Roberts, high scorer for the Babes, and Pete Coniglio received CCAL honors at the end of the season, With all the boys returning, although some will graduate to the heavy-weight division, enough talent is left over to provide the forth-coming Lightweight team with plenty of good material. Bots who composed the sauad were Ronald Roberts, Pete Coniglio, Frank Flores, Bill Wardle, Bob Delgadillo, Stanley l-londa, Yeizo Okamura, Richard Oyama, Ben Omoto, Bert Aiello, Richard Lee, Dan Albert, Al Matthews, Joe Poltrone, Jack Kelly, and John Anestasi. llEllllllllllilll llllSltlllQlltll .
