foreword as the years of the first half of the twentieth century have come and gone, so too have the first five years of monterey high school slipped by. in this, the fifth edition of the chaparral, we hope that we have captured for you in pictures and words the events that set this year apart as the greatest yet for mhs. to each of you as plainsmen: may the next fifty years of your lives be enriched with abundance as you have helped to fill and enrich the pages of the 1960 chaparral.
