PUBLISHED BY THE SCHOOL COUNCIL OF MONTEREY BAY ACADEMY WATSONVILLE, CALIFORNIA WhemCd d and Sea Unite to jHspte s OMEONE has aptly said, The highest reward for a man ' s toil is not what he gets for it, but what he be- comes by it. Some of you students will get diplomas at graduation time and otlierc will get other immediate rewards from your eflorin of thin and the past few years. These rewards, however, are only milestones and unless you continue to build, your efforts will hove been in vain. It is what you become that will count. It is the wish of your faculty that you will continue to build solid ly and wisely and thus become men and women of noble character measur- ing up to God ' s great ideals. D. I. Bieber, Principal INiBaHgaMffl W B H a riMWfi tM- WWHUm To one who, through the years, has faithfully given her life in service and self-sacrifice for the development of character in Christian youth, to one who is al- ways busy but never too busy to find another half hour to help a student wandering in the maze of tangents and locis or the mephitic aroma of H S, or in the vacuum of rarefied mental activity. With a typical pioneer spirit, she came to MBA at its inception and has ably directed the varied activities of the School Council through the past six years. We, the staff, sin- cerely feel that she merits the use of the Science Buildin g now under construction and the dedication of the Cypress Bough of 1955. Zke Bough Staff Zakes a Bow to 1955 Who voted me into this job? is the eternal question of every staff member as inexorable deadlines store, nose to nose. Glossy paste-up sheets, dull lay- out sheets, trimmed pictures, rubber cement, algebraic equations, type- written copy, red and blue pencils, pica gauges, erasers, waste baskets, all in- terrupted by hearty guffaws as new pictures are spied, plus the burning of post-midnight oil and gas, are the re- wards for unstudied lessons of to- morrow. And now . . . brace yourself — cameras seldom prevaricate! The old Social Hall could hove told a real story of functional usage before being torn down to provide lumber for newer campus additions. By carving out the hillside behind the dairy, a new farm road and irrigation pipe line were laid out. Adding dignity to our Baker Chapel were the new green- velvet curtains, a mutual project of the School Council and the administration. or ' ' Seco DVl Sev est stet v f ;. Boys, Boys, Boys! When boys get together, there is real fun brewing somewhere. They ' ve had their share this year! Right, boys? Into this, out of that. Trouble? Never! There are about 120 fellows in the new dorm and 30 in the annex who would like to extend a hearty thanks to the two men who have guided and chided them dur- ing this school year. They are all better Christians for having been together. Our J ems t YoM ' dO V o tot tos hv .?ou i b Scorn mics 1 nil ding Fifth in the planned series of six permanent new buildings on our campus is the new Science and Home Economics Building located between the new Ad- ministration Building and Girls Dormitory. This will remove two more departments from the old barracks buildings. Matching this on the other side will be the Industrial Arts Building next year. T-H-E-N will come land- scaping.
