CONTENTS DEDICATION ................................. 4 SENIORS .................................... 5 UNDERCLASSMEN ............................. IS ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY 23 STUDENT LIFE............................... 29 SPORTS .................................... 47 ACTIVITIES ................................ 57 SENIOR DIRECTORY 68 ADS........................................ 70 FOREWORD THESE COVERS BIND TOGETHER THE MEMORIES OF A SCHOOL YEAR; . . . SUCCESSES AND FAILURES . . . PLEASURES AND PAINS . . . JOYS AND SORROWS . THESE ARE MEMORIES NOT ONLY FOR THE SENIORS, BUT FOR JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES, AND FRESHMEN AS WELL. FRESHMEN FRESHMEN MAY REMEMBER SOME PAINFUL AND EMBARRASSING MOMENTS AS THEY LEARNED TO ADJUST TO HIGH SCHOOL LIFE. BUT THEY WILL ALSO REMEMBER A YEAR FILLED WITH PRIDE IN ACCOMPLISHMENT, PROUD TO SAY- WE MADE IT! SOPHOMORES FOR YOU THIS YEAR HAS BEEN EASIER THAN THE LAST. THE MANY ACQUAINT- ANCES OF THAT YEAR ARE STILL WITH YOU. THE JUNIORS AND SENIORS HAVE ACCEPTED YOU MORE LIKE PART OF THEM, WHICH HELPED MAKING THIS YEAR A BETTER ONE. JUNIORS THE JUNIORS ARE NEITHER GETTING AC- QUAINTED WITH SCHOOL, AS THE FRESHMAN ARE, NOR PREPARING TO SAY GOOD-BYE AS THE SENIORS. JUNIORS REALLY RELAX AND ENJOY THIS YEAR. PROM IS THEIR PRIDE AND THEIR JOY, THEIR RESPONSIBILITY---- SOMETHING THEY ARE LEARNING MORE AND MORE ABOUT. SO TO THEM, THIS BOOK WILL BE A REMINDER OF THE PLEASURES THEY FOUND AS NO LONGER SOPHOMORES AND NOT YET SENIORS 2 I SENIORS SENIORS FOR YOU, THE MEMORIES IN THIS YEARBOOK ARE THE MOST SIGNIFICANT OF ALL AS YOU OPEN YOUR YEARBOOK IN MAY, YOU ARE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A NEW WAY OF LIFE. ALL AT ONCE YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN: . . . TEACHERS WILL NOT TELL YOU ANYMORE. . . . THE 8:15 - 3:16 SCHEDULE WILL BE CHANGED FOR A NEW AND DIFFERENT ONE. . . . FRIENDS WON'T BE AROUND EVERYDAY. AFTER GRADUATION YOU WILL FEEL AS ONE DOES ON A ROLLER COASTER WHICH HAS REACHED A PEAK AND PLUNGES INTO THIN AIR. IT IS THAT BETWEEN - PEAKS - SENSATION THAT GRADUATES KNOW. TO THEM, THIS BOOK RECALLS A SAFE BUT SORROWFUL YEAR. ONE WAS SO SAFE SITTING IN A CLASSROOM BUILDING AIR CASTLES, ONE WAS SADDENED BY KNOWING THAT IT WAS THE LAST TIME FOR SO MANY THINGS. . . . HOMECOMING PARADES . . . PROMS . . . PARTIES AND DANCES. THESE SENIOR MEMORIES HAVE BEEN PRESERVED HERE FOR YOU TO LOOK BACK ON, NOT WITH REGRETFUL LONGING TO HAVE THEM AGAIN, BUT WITH A FEEUNG THAT THEY WERE AND ALWAYS WILL BE A PART OF YOU . SO THE STAFF INVITES YOU TO OPEN THIS BOOK, REMEMBERING THE WORDS OF THE SONG, WE HAVE THESE MOMENTS TO REMEMBER. DEDICATION DEDICATION We, the students of Montello High School, dedicate this Hilltopper to you, Mr. Williams. What would the Sciences be without the William-touch? Where would our athletic teams be without your great coaching? And how can we ever forget those valuable lessons you taught us as freshmen? This is only a small way of showing our deep-felt appreciation. We sin- cerely hope that someday the great reward you deserve, you'll receive.
