The students participate in the contests by their own choice. Students are offered many types of speech work such as: non-original oration, original speeches, plays and readings. The students are chosen to participate in contests by being selected at a local contest. The faculty members serve as judges. The 1961 contests were held on these dates: Local contest at Montello, February 28; League contest at Wautoma, March 9; and District contest at Stevens Point. March 11. Montello is very proud of its i960 Forensics Members. Receiving A's at the State contest were Robert O'Grady and Verna Sheller. The school was equally proud of its B winners: Dolores Goetz, Carol Erdman, Ken Schuman, Jon Whirry, Warren Reibold, Sherrill Kemnitz, and Maur- een Cotter. The 1961 graduating class had two Forensics members working extremely hard all four years. They were Verna Sheller and Kenneth Schuman. Lenore Sell has been a member for three years, Carol Erdman participated in two years of Forensics, and Sharon Hunter has taken part for one year. - 40 - Monte llo 25 Monte llo •3 Montello 32 Montello 27 Montello ■9 Montello 4 FOOTBALL Wild Rose 7 Almond 6 Oxford 0 Wild Rose 28 Almond 3 Oxford 21 FRONT ROW: John Spiller, Tom Steinhaus, Dennis McFarlin, Gerard Glover, and Manager--Orvan Morrical.
