Prophecy On a warm summer evening in 1980 we find the retired principal of Montello High School, Mr. L. A. Kiger, seated in a wheelchair before the electronic TV set in the Montello Convalescent Home. He is awakened by the Cookie beat of Mr. Robert O'Grady's Rock'n Roll Combo. Robert is celebrating his seventeenth year as a Combo leader with his special guest, Harry Kratz, better known as 'Hot Feet Harry. Robert's female attraction, Bonnie Bulgrin, who is supposed to add wit and beauty to his show, made a big hit when she tripped over the microphone cord. The program is interrupted by a flash from the MHS Broadcasting Company. Herbert Scharenberg and Rueben Hunter have reached Venus in their homemade rocket. Another guest on Robert's program is Donna Judas, the famed authoress of The Love-Torn column. As the program ends, Mr. Kiger's attention is directed to the commercial for Antoine Benet's Beauty Salon. Antoine Benet, better known to us as Ken Wilkins, announces the coming of his camouflage program for women over the age of sixty. It features weight-lifting, a super-shimmey machine, and chin-lifters. The next program of the evening is a Shakespearean Hour produced and directed by Warren Reibold, owner of the 20th Century Fox Studios. The evening's presentation of ROMEO AND JULIET stars Mr. Jack Schwartz and Miss Claire Otto. The program is momentarily blacked out, because, as Juliet got to the lines, Romeo, Romeo, where art thou? , the balcony collapsed. The black-out is filled in with a taped speech of the first woman president of the United States, Clarice BiBell. Now it is time for the half-hour news break. It is announced that the Harlem Globe Trotters will put on a benefit game for the Montello Convalescent Home on August 29, 1980. Their newest player is Mary Ellen Otto. The new Jack Paar show highlighted the next hour. As a special feature, he is having a sneak-pre- view of the Catherine Warrack Dancers, direct from the Copa Cobana Night Club. As the show leaves the air, Mr. Kiger decides to scan the newspaper. The headlines read: Drastic Action Taken in Packwaukee. Ellen Kittman, Mayor of Packwaukee, and her city council consisting of Ken Walters, Allen Wilkomm, and Newton Basore, passed prohibition laws in Packwaukee. This action stemmed from a raid led by police-woman Pat Dusenske on a remote resort in the area. An article on the third page mentions a rare disease which had been contracted by Ellery Klatt and resulted in the loss of his hair. The mad psychiatrist, Dennis Hunter, was charged with stepping up the institution population rates by harassing his patients rather than curing them. Newton Basore, also a great orator of the day, is scheduled to speak at the White House on Advice on Vice. On the business page one article reads, Patsy Mulhern, operator of a chain of drive-ins throughout the country declares bankruptcy. Another read, Donald Hall, having failed at repairing cars, opens a tricycle shop in Packwaukee. Next is the arrests column written by the new traffic cop, Val McReath. The first arrest listed was filed against Maureen Cotter, manager of the Slenderella Salon. She was hauled into court on the com- plaint of a customer, Grace Roidt, who claimed Miss Cotter, anxious to get ready for her dinner date, left Grace in the steam cabinet all night.
