More efficient kitchen and serving areas as well as a more pleasant dining area were provided. A system for serving hot lunches to students in area schools was also begun this year. All cooking is done by Mrs. Jack Giencke, Mrs. Alfred Zuelke and Mrs. Robert Fenley. Mrs. James Washburn, secretary to the principal, is kept busy with record- keeping, typing and numerous other duties necessary to the school. Mr. Erwin Schmitz and Mr. Ed Bornick are shown at the close of a busy day. The school day ends at 3:30 for most students, but much of a janitor's work still remains to be done after that time. Besides cleaning, snow shoveling etc. they do a wonderful job of keeping things repaired and are on hand for all evening events in the building. Mr. Schmitz also delivers the hot lunches to all area schools. -8- DENNIS JAMES HUNTER Dennis the Menace President 4; Secretary-Treasurer 1; Student Council 1,4; FFA 1; Library Club 2; Foren- sics 1,2,3,4, State 2,4; Class Play: Annual Staff 3,4, Section Editor 4; Photography Club 1,2,3,4, President 3,4, Vice-Presi- dent 2. A. Kiger, seated in a wheelchair before the electronic TV set in the Montello Convalescent Home. He is awakened by the Cookie beat of Mr. Robert O'Grady's Rock'n Roll Combo. Robert is celebrating his seventeenth year as a Combo leader with his special guest, Harry Kratz, better known as 'Hot Feet Harry. Robert's female attraction, Bonnie Bulgrin, who is supposed to add wit and beauty to his show, made a big hit when she tripped over the microphone cord. The program is interrupted by a flash from the MHS Broadcasting Company. Herbert Scharenberg and Rueben Hunter have reached Venus in their homemade rocket. Another guest on Robert's program is Donna Judas, the famed authoress of The Love-Torn column. As the program ends, Mr. Kiger's attention is directed to the commercial for Antoine Benet's Beauty Salon. Antoine Benet, better known to us as Ken Wilkins, announces the coming of his camouflage program for women over the age of sixty. It features weight-lifting, a super-shimmey machine, and chin-lifters. The next program of the evening is a Shakespearean Hour produced and directed by Warren Reibold, owner of the 20th Century Fox Studios. The evening's presentation of ROMEO AND JULIET stars Mr. Jack Schwartz and Miss Claire Otto. The program is momentarily blacked out, because, as Juliet got to the lines, Romeo, Romeo, where art thou? , the balcony collapsed. The black-out is filled in with a taped speech of the first woman president of the United States, Clarice BiBell. Now it is time for the half-hour news break. It is announced that the Harlem Globe Trotters will put on a benefit game for the Montello Convalescent Home on August 29, 1980. Their newest player is Mary Ellen Otto. The new Jack Paar show highlighted the next hour. As a special feature, he is having a sneak-pre- view of the Catherine Warrack Dancers, direct from the Copa Cobana Night Club. As the show leaves the air, Mr. Kiger decides to scan the newspaper. The headlines read: Drastic Action Taken in Packwaukee. Ellen Kittman, Mayor of Packwaukee, and her city council consisting of Ken Walters, Allen Wilkomm, and Newton Basore, passed prohibition laws in Packwaukee. This action stemmed from a raid led by police-woman Pat Dusenske on a remote resort in the area. An article on the third page mentions a rare disease which had been contracted by Ellery Klatt and resulted in the loss of his hair. The mad psychiatrist, Dennis Hunter, was charged with stepping up the institution population rates by harassing his patients rather than curing them. Newton Basore, also a great orator of the day, is scheduled to speak at the White House on Advice on Vice. On the business page one article reads, Patsy Mulhern, operator of a chain of drive-ins throughout the country declares bankruptcy. Another read, Donald Hall, having failed at repairing cars, opens a tricycle shop in Packwaukee. Next is the arrests column written by the new traffic cop, Val McReath. The first arrest listed was filed against Maureen Cotter, manager of the Slenderella Salon. She was hauled into court on the com- plaint of a customer, Grace Roidt, who claimed Miss Cotter, anxious to get ready for her dinner date, left Grace in the steam cabinet all night. TRIPLE TRIO Our triple trio was organized for the benefit of those who get an enjoyment from singing. They find that they gain invaluable experience from sing- ing before an audience and also being criticized at the Music Festival. They will be singing at the Music Festival this year and are hoping to do as well as last year when they went to State. They also plan to sing at the various school concerts this year. Pat Mulhern and Phransay Thome are veterans with four years' experience. All of the other girls are new members this year. The girls' favorite song is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. “ - 33 - Betty Messerschmidt Montello High School Sheryl Robinson First Row: Betty Sheller, David Reibold, Susan Sheller, Nancy Knaack. SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY (Continued from Page 18) Late news item — Frank Breitenbach nearly drowns in two feet of water while drilling a well. In another column — Janice Brown, formerly Janice Morrical, was released from the Portage Hospital where she was voted 'Mommy of the Year' after giving birth to quintuplets. On another page we see, Miss Sandra Gurke to receive 'Secretary of the Year’ award in cere- monies in New York. Farther down the page, Miss Dolores Goetz gives up teaching kindergarten to go on to school to obtain a 'Bachelor of Acting' degree enabling her to obtain employment in Disney- land as the current 'Daisy Duck. Miss Betty Sheller and Mr. Jon Whirry will hold an open house on July 25, 1980. They are cele- brating their 25th year of 'Going Steady.' Their minister, Frank Dirnbauer, will speak to the guests and the honored couple about 'The Drawbacks of Going Steady.' At the bottom of the page a very small article tells of the newest addition to King Ferok’s Ijarem.
