The graduating class of '65 proudly dedicates this BLUE EAGLE to Mr. Royden C. Cartwright, our very deserving principal. As seventh and eighth grade students, we knew Mr. Cartwright was our hard- working boys' vice principal, and we are all aware of the years of industrious endeavor he has put forth for us. We leave the dear old halls of M. J. H. with the knowledge that the future of the school is in the capable hands of an educator who wants the best for students. It is with great respect that we have chosen to honor you by this dedication. Melissa Fenton -' .' Roland Fogarty Craig Lowe, Robert Preciado, Jack Barton Student Photographers Montebello Junior High School has seen many changes this year. We have had a new principal, Mr. Royden C. Cartwright, and a new boys' vice principal, Mr. Lionel S. Martinez. Mr. Cartwright enioys being principal of our school, and he is happy with the way the students are progressing. Mr. Martinez appreciates the attitude ofthe students and says their cooperation reflects good guidance by parents and excellent teaching by the faculty. The 1964-65 Seventh Grade officers, President Kay Shuptrine, Boys' Vice President Tom Espinoza, Girls' Vice President Vicki Burdman, and Secretary Susan Casper, have helped to make student activities an important part of M.J.H. For the noon games, they compiled a set of rules which were accepted by' the Student Council to be used by all of the teams during the competition games. The class officers also sponsored the dances which were fun for everyone who attended. The Eighth Grade officers, President Sam Tickenoff, Boys' Vice President Fred Fuiioka, Girls' Vice Presi- dent Rita Joiner, and Secretary Carol Zamora, organized special dances which were very enioyable. Some of the parties were for combined grades. Our Ninth Grade officers, President Jim Lidyoff, Boys' Vice President Harry Kobzeff, Girls' Vice Presi- dent Kathy Pavloff, and Secretary Kris Kyle, accompanied the ASB officers to Eastmont Junior High School for a Student Government Convention. They also helped plan the May 13 Recognition Day Dance and served on the Graduation Committee. Something new for the class dances was having the Upsets, a student dance band provide live music. The Girls' League Cabinet entertained M.J.H. girls' mothers with the March Mother-Daughter Banquet. I cannot include the many exciting events of this school year in the space allotted to me on this page, but the staff has captured much of the story in the pictures which we hope you will enioy.
