With this kev you may open the doors to your club activities sport functions class- room work and Oiler classmates. Because Ollie the Oiler was brought to life this year in the personage of senior Ivan Claman the yearbook staff asked him to pose with an over-sized key for the various sections. He consented to help, symbolizing the school spirit that has prevailed on the campus this past year. With this thought in mind the annual staff pre- which you can re-live the reading Jriting and rith- metic days that you have spent at Montebello Senior School. W sents the 1955 Golden Key as a lasting Mkey by L A 4 , Board of Education members: Mr. Richard L. Adams, director, Dr. Richard E Hughes director Mr Homer R. Heacock, president, Mrs. Micheal Mosqumi, director, Mr. jack A Mott director ckcafionf Every act, every play, every presentation always has a group of unacclaimed behind the scenes men who are actually the core of the efficient functioning of that body. MHS, too, has a group of seldom-praised men who strive constantly for the betterment of the school. This group, who has contributed so much and is such an essential part of our school life, should be given recognition in the year- book. To this group, the Board of Education, we on the an- nual staff dedicate the 1955 Golden Key. For the seem- ingly endless list of duties that they have performed this year, we issue our heartfelt thanks and hope they will be rewarded through this edition of the Golden Key. jagi of Gnzfenlfa page 6 page 18 page 26 page 102 page 148 page 162 3. if I ,f4a!mLnwLLraIfL0n 1i 1::.ti: ifivxfif 7 Y A A Y Y A ' f-iiisssgfsi rincilaa Throughout the yea r the entire student body has shown their interest and enthusiasm by the traditions that have been originated this year. Faculty, parents, and community have placed their trust in you. the student body, by appropriating the funds of the 54,000,000 school bond election. Oilers have become so tradition-conscious that I'm sure future Standards will be set by this year's work. The origination of Ollie Oiler in stuffed and real-life forms, a victory pennant to be flown after varsity wins. and the zeal with which the student body backed-up the football team only helped heighten the excite- ment of gaining both the varsity and the cross-country championships. The honors, scholarships, and trophies bestowed upon MHS students this year have been many. Bring- ing fame to MHS by representing us in the Tourna- ment of Roses, parade was our band and marching groups of girls. High praise must go to the student government leaders, letterrnen, yell leaders, flag twirl- ers, song leaders, and every participant in school activ- ities of any kind. Thanks for a year that has broken records of every kind for MHS. Robert S. The theme for the Christmas Dance this year was Ever- green Escapades. The girl invites the boy of her choice. This year, after five dress was stressed instead of semi-formal. The decorations by Joyce Stein and her committee added immensely to this gala occasion. A few of the couples who enjoyed the Christmas Dance. Now that our annual has gone to press, my staff, Mr. Phelan, and I are able to breathe a sigh of relief. We have spent many months preparing our layout, directing the taking of pictures, writing copy and pasting pictures. There were times when nothing went right, and it seemed as if we would never meet our deadlines. Now that the yearbook is completed, I feel that all the hours of hard work put forth by my staff and me was well worth the effort. Now I would like to acknowledge my thanks to everyone who made this annual possible. First I'd like to thank Fichera Studios for taking the senior portraits and especially Mr. Chet Brickett, who came and took pictures of our school activities whenever we needed him. Special thanks to Mr. Wallace Buchanan and his print shop boys for printing the copy. Thanks to Mr. Kenneth Stevener, Myers Yearbook representa- Binding ........ To my hard-working and capable staff go my sincere thanks. I'd especially like to thank Janet Dou- sett, who was always willing to give generously of her time and ability. Virgil Mirano spent many hours perfecting layouts and designing different id e a s which were intricate and interesting. There aren't words enough to express my grati- tude to Mr. Richard Phelan. Without his able guid- ance, assistance and patience we wouldn't have been able to produce this yearbook. I hope that you the students treasure this year- book and its memories as much as my staff and I have enjoyed working on it.
