7n7fano1zaf2' 'I Rb This year the students of Montebello Senior High School have become foster parents. Yes, Montebello has adopted a little eight-year-old boy, named Reinhard Kremer. Born in Frienland on july 16, 1945, Reinhard and his mother were expelled from his country in accordance with the Potsdam agreement, and they were taken to a crowded expellee's camp. According to Reinhard's case history, he is a bright, alert, serious child. Among his joys is his love for working with tools. In school he is alert, attentive and interested in his second grade class at the Volkschule Elementary. He must wear glasses for his astigmatism, and last year when his glasses had been broken, he fell down and acquired a mild concussion, but this appears to have left no serious after-effects. Wap ' ' To Miss Gertrude M. Cox, Montebello Senior High School teacher of Biology, for the inspiration and ho e she has given to all with whom she has come in contact, this 1954 GOLDEN KEY is djedicated. Born in Thorntown, Indiana, Miss Cox came as a young girl to California and graduated from Whinier High School. She received her B.A. from Whinier College and her M.A. from the University of Southern California. She also has done graduate work at the University of California at Berkeley. The majority of her teaching has been done at Montebello Senior High School. It is not only as a teacher, however, that her students remember her, for they appreciate the added help she was always ready to give, her friendly understanding, and the strength of her character. She has been sponsor for the Senior class for many years and has supervised the numerous Senior activities of the graduating season. She has also been sponsor for several years of a japanese club, co-sponsor of the World Friendship Club, and an advisor of a Horticulture club. As one administrator observed, She can exert positive control over a class of mischievous students without elfort, and teach them Science when others would grow weak in the struggle. A student of one of her classes expressed the accepted opinion of students here when he said, It would take many people to tell completely of the inspiration and encouragement she has given all of her students, for she is a truly wonderful person.
