MRS. MARY MORGAN FOX Plyyrical Education Mrs. Fox was W. P. E. Club president and student body song leader at Whittier College. At Whittier Union High School, she was senior class secretary and sergeant-at-arms of the Girls' League. She has been teaching here for eight years. MRS. GERALDINE SPERLING Physical Education Mrs. Sperling graduated from U.C,L.A., where she also at- tended for graduate work. She ac- cepted a scholarship to U.C.L.A. This is her second year at Mon- tebello, but her fourth year of teaching. She was a sergeant in the army. MRS, DIANE L. STARKEY Pbyiiral Education Mrs. Starkey was reared in Hemet, Calif., where in high school she was Girls' League President and A.S.B. Secretary. U.S.C. is the college where she graduated and where she was the head of women's basketball intramural for the University Recreation Association. ?we4fff Peqazeali IVIRS. GRETA WEATHERILI. Phyrical Education At Whittier Union High, Mrs. XVeatherill was A.S.B. secretary. She graduated from Chapman col- lege and also attended Occidental. She has been A.S.B. social chair- man, in th e Cardinal Mixed Quartet, Lesser Prophet Editor at Chapman, college song leader, and recipient of the best actress award. She received undergradu- ate scholastic honors and highest senior award at Chapman. MR. LEON T. BROOCK Science Mr. Broock holds the distinc- tion of being the only faculty member who has owned and op- erated a railroad-at Streamland Park. He has also served as a surveyor, jig builder, machinist an explorer, in addition to teach- ing here since 1926. He is a graduate of U.C.L.A,, and also attended U.C. at Berkeley. Seduce MISS GERTRUDE M. COX Science Miss Cox was graduated from Whittier High School and from Whittier College. Her activities were debating, drama, and or- chestra and she was salutatorian of her graduating class in high school. Most of her teaching has been at Montebello Senior High School. Her most interesting ex- tra employment was fancy cater- ing. MR. PETER W. EBERLE Science Mr. Eberle graduated from Northern State Teachers' College and has also attended U. of No. Dakota, Morningside College, U. of Iowa and Oregon State Col- lege. At U.S.C. he was an assist- ant laboratory instructor. He was once an educational advisor in the Civilian Conservation Corps. lwenty I gvgvyg i, MR. JAMES R. LINK Science Mr. Link was born in Louis, Missouri, and atte school in Connecticut. WESLEY WALKEI Science Mr. NValker is a Montebell graduate who came back to school to teach. When a stu here he was a member of Merito. GERTRUDE VAN DYKE Malhemalirr Mrs. Van Dyke is a graduate of Whittier Union High School where she received the Gold Seal. She attended U.C. at Berkeley, Whittier College and Pomona College where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She has been here for seven years as a mathematics teacher. MR. HERBERT W. ROESENER Murir Mr. Roesener attended Wood- row Wilson High. He graduated from Whittier College and also attended U.S.C. In 1949 he was a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universi- ties. During the last WorldW ar he was in the Navy as a torpedo bomber. Al MR. RALPH KEEGAN Playriral Education Mr. Keegan, like many others on the faculty, is from the Mid- west. He was born in Illinois, MR. KENNETH R. COOK Vocal Mufir Mr. Cook is a native of Min- nesota where he attended high school. In his college years he came to California and attended Whittier College, then returned to Minnesota where he graduated from Hamline U. at St. Paul, Minn. He has taught two years at M.S,H,S. In addition to school work, he was owner-operator of a super market. MR. RAYMOND B. HOOPER PlJ,yJirul Education Mr. Hooper, when a student at Whittier College, was presi- dent of the Associated Men's Student Body, and a varsity bas- ketball player. He has attended, in addition. Compton j.C. and Missouri Valley College. He served for a year as Physical Ed- ucation director of a Y.M.C.A. During his college training he attended Southwest Missouri State. U. of Mo., U. C.. U.C.L.A. and U.S.C. His under- graduate activities were college glee, football and basketball. He has been teaching three years at Oilerville. MRS. LORRAINE FLITTNER Social Science A native of Los Angeles, who has taught through half of her teaching career at Montebello is Mrs. Flittner. Aside from teach- ing. she has enjoyed maintaining her home and rearing her family. She attended U.C. at Berkeley and U.C.L.A., where she grad- uated. MR. JOHN JOHNSTON Social Science Mr. Johnston, a high school graduate of Long Beach Poly, where he was president of the glee club and member of Masque and Sandal Club. later graduated from Chapman College. He also attended Whittier, U. C. L. A., U.S.C. and San Diego State. He has also taught Driver Training. His avocation is music and he is known for his hne baritone voice. JAMES W. MOORE Social Science Mr. Moore attended school in Ohio where he graduated from Oberlin College. He also attend- ed Columbia U. and U.S.C. A principal student activity in col- lege was playing bass fiddle in a dance band. In the last war he made false teeth in the Medical Dept. of the U.S. Army. twenty-one MR. CLIFFORD WAYNE POOR U. S. Hirtory Mr. Poor was valedictorian of his high school class, and he was class president during his 9th, 10th and 12th grades. He gradu- ated from Missouri State Teach- ers College, and has also at- tended U. of Kansas, and U.S.C. In college he was on the honor roll. Besides teaching, he has been a salesman and cashier. MR. STUART B. ROUGH Social Science Nehawka, Nebraska is where Mr. Rough was born. He attend- ed Weepin Water Academy rep school, ancf was graduated fiom Doane College where he was ed- itor of the college paper. He has taught 27 years at Montebello and was coach of many championship track teams.
