Industriai e rtrreent Richard Snow Department Chairperson iPre 'Voc Auto 15-25 Tre 'Voc Drafting 15-85 This year the I ndustriaf Arts Department, chaired hy Mr. Richard Snow, qyjfered many thverse and ergciting opportunities for its students. Mr. Snow speaks proudly of the projects compfeted hy the students in his department, particzdarfy in Drafting, his Other CQISSZS qgered hy the department incfude Woods, Dlffetais, Auto 5hop and KO? Wfachine 'Tool Operator. Beginning Draftiruy stuhnts this year learned the hasics tj the art Ey compfeting a variety cf assigned prcjects. As students continued on to more advanced cfasses, they created worgng drawings for residentiaf homes and buift three thmensionaf modeis. The most advanced students had the opportunity to program designs on one cj the departments four Computer Aided Drafting ICADJ computers, which were purchased with funds provided hy the 'Vocationaf Zducation Act ffV'.7-.IAQ and the Caffornia Lottery. Drafting is the second fastest growing fiefd in the nation, and it qbfers ergceifent career opportunities for those getting a head start here at Ulffonte flfista. 'The schoof wood shop Qbhzrs instruction in the manipuuztion qt' various hard and soft woods, adhesives, and appfied mathematics, inciurhng measurement and computation. 'Zhe metaf shop provides experience in welding, forging, sheet metaf and machine worli 'Zhe auto shop teaches the Easic of ehagnosis, tuneups, Brakes and motor repair. Aff cfasses stress the importance cyl' safety and enforce numerous safety precautions. As successfzd as the Industriaf Arts Departmet is, it is not without prohfems.
