ZJXIUJZIILWI Mr Ferguson was born un Boston Massachusetts and upon hus graduation from Bos ton English Hugh School entered Clark Unuversuty where he studied for hus bachelor and masters degrees As an undergraduate at Clark he receuved an all around athletic award for hus abuluty un several of the college s mauor sports He later dud graduate work at Rutgers Columbia and New York unuversutues Mr Ferguson taught history economics and English and assisted un coaching foot ball and baseball for several years un hugh schools un Provincetown and Milton Massa chusetts and Ridgewood and New Brunswick New Jersey before becoming pruncupal of a uunuor hugh school un Akron Ohuo un l92O He was also pruncupal of Battun Hugh School un Elizabeth for two years before comung to Montclaur un l926 Mr Ferguson has always thought of educatuon un a broad sense and has made a name not only for himself but also for the school un all parts of the country His repu tatuon for hus abuluty as an organuzer and admunustrator won hum a place on many com muttees and educatuonal organuzatons He us a past presudent of well known organuza tuons such as the New Jersey Hugh School Teachers Association the New Jersey Sec ondary School Principals Association the Headmasters Association the New Jersey Council of Education and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools Mr Ferguson has also been an actuve member of the College Entrance Exam unatuon Board and a lufe member of the Department of Superuntendence of the National pruncupal Mr Ferguson was awarded an honorary degree of doctor of letters by Prince ton Unuversuty un l947 Through hus membership on educatuonal commuttees Mr Ferguson has kept abreast with the best of modern trends and thought He has generously unterpreted hus own vuews on educatuon to parents and other educators Through hus articles an several leadung educatuonal magazines uncludung School and Sorzetrx and Progress: e Educatzon he has expressed his vuews on modern educatuon to thousands of teachers and pruncupals un other cuties throughout the country Mr Ferguson has always been aware of school standards and guven the intelligent and personal leadership which has kept a hugh record for the school He has receuved the respect of pupils and teachers alike for hus abuluty to compromise when he sees that ut would be to the best advantage of the school and to remain steadfast when he belueves he us rught Before he has decuded any umportant question Mr Ferguson un the best democratic fashion has consulted other people and guven fair consuderatuon to their pount of vuew The Student Faculty here un the hugh school has been of partucular unterest to hum and a source of pride to hum He has always enjoyed meetung with the students to dus cuss a problem The students wull remember hum for hus dugnufued manner un conducting meetungs and assemblies and hus faur consuderatuon of theur pount of vuew Dugnufued but yet approachable he has been a popular and forceful pruncupal There can be no doubt that Mr Ferguson s leavung will be a loss to the school and his many friends He departs with the best wushes of the enture student body and their suncere hope for hus continued success un whatever new undertaking he shall pursue 3 O U Education Association.
