A note of appreciation should be given to the boys on the squad who did not see much action but nevertheless without whose willingness to work. the first team would not have risen to such heights. I 14A A 3 BLOOMFIELD 21, MONTCLAIR o Thanksgiving Day found an undefeated Niontctair eleven ready and waiting to meet the unbeaten Bengal team. Vvith both our First string guards on the sidelines, our men held the powerful Bloom- tietders scoreless for three long periods. Despite the fact that Morgan, Wiazur, Godieski and Krivitc, our visitors, haciqfieid, showed their ability continually throughout the game, for thirty-six minutes of actual play their long runs and powerful plays went for naught. Montclair threatened to score at the end of the second quarter. After recovering a fumhte on Bioomfietcfs thirty-seven-yard line, with only a halt minute to play, De iwaio passed to Brownlee on the three-yard line, hut he was unable to hold the halt, and a second pass was intercepted when the half ended. For a third quarter our team kept the scoreless pace. In the fourth quarter, Bloomfield made a first down on our one-yard line and Ntazur went over for the score on the next play, white Edactc made the extra point. De ixfiaioss kick was received hy Mazur and in seven plays our opponents had again scored. Kriviic made a dropicick to score the fourteenth point. At this point of the game Sted- man made several fine runs, hut an intercepted pass started Krivik on his way to a third score, after which Edack again made the extra point. biont- ctair had suffered its first defeat. MONTCLAIR 13, GLEN RIDGE o Nleeting one of her hig rivals, Montclair downed a fighting Glen Ridge aggregation hy a 15-O score. Once again Niontciairis defensive power was promi- nent, as Glen Ridge never threatened the Montclair goat line. They were across the mid-Field stripe only a few times. ixfiontciair also showed some scoring power. In the first period, after a few exchanges of tcictcs, Niontciair worked the hail down to the Glen Ridge twenty-yard line. Ferrara then started for the left end, reversed his field and ran across the goat tor six points. De Maiois attempt at conversion was good. Soon after the fourth period commenced, iwontctair again went down to the Glen Ridge twenty, from which De Maio threw a pass to For- tunato for another score. Glen Ridge tilted the air with passes, hut Montclair held untii the end. , NONTCLAIR 7, KEARNY 6 The Blue and Vvhite got under way with a 7-6 victory over a strong Kearny team at Essex Field on Octoher third. Blontclair scored in the second period when De hlaio threw a pass to Ferrara. De lxlaio then converted lor what proved to he the win- ning point. Kearny hattled over the goal line in the third period, hut Venner hloclcecl the attempt for the extra point. The last period was lought mostly near mid-lield with neither team ahle to gain much ground. MONTCLAIR 26, 'PLAINFIELD o The weather was so unlavoralole that our next game was postponed until the following lxlonday when hlontclair drulohed a game Plainfield eleven. Nlontclair took the loall on the lciclc-oft and started an unlorolcen march lor a touchdown. ln the third period, De Maio passed to Fortunato for sixty yards and another touchdown. Alter Stiff had scored a third touchdown, suhstitutions became numerous. Near the end of the game, Venner intercepted a pass and raced sixty yards for the lliflal SCOPE. NONTCLAIR o, NUTLEY o Another postponement brought to the following Monday. There threats, with Montclair having the the lirst halt and Nutley during the Nutley game were lew scoring advantage during the second. De lxlaio made an attempt at a field goal in the fourth period, hut it was from a difficult angle and the hall fell just short. This was the last scoring threat of the game and the rest of the play turned into a punting duel. MONTCIAIR o, EAST ORANGE o For the second time this year, this time with East Grange, the game ended in a nothing to nothing tie. lxlontclains delensive alaility was predominant as usual, with Venner and Hansen engaging in a spec- tacular lciclcing duel. The only scoring threat in the game came when De Nlaio attempted a field goal from the ten-yard line to which it had been carried hy Stiff on a long run, lout the lciclc iust failed.
