amphltheafre A ' SENIOR CLASS HISTORY HE class of 1978 lb wlthout questlon unsurpassed by any class havmg before graduated from old M H S both In qualxty and ln accompllshment As sophomores we got started just a lxttle faster than those who preceded us ln past years and promptly elected our oflicers to lead us through the year Lloyd Rosevear pres1dent Betty Steele vxce pres1dent Joyce Jenkins secretary and Margaret Allan treasurer Betty Joyce and Lloyd represented us on the Student Councll We were a little less confused by the newness of our surroundings and 203 rn partrcular than might be expected of Sophomores and found no d1fHculty m plaung many of our members on the Honor Roll wh1le we were well represented on the Athletic squads Lontmumg wrth our good work we were orxgmal enough to have our M1xer rn tlme to Mlx the bophomores January eighth was the date set Enter tamment was provlded by members of the class and the afternoon was enjoyed by all We returned the followmg year as full of pep as ever thrs trme as Jumors We elected these oflfxcers to guzde us Jack Rutherford pres1dent Betty Steele vlce pres1dent Joyce Jenkms secretary Robert Drew treasurer and as representatlves on the Student Coun cxl Betty Joyce and Art Mayes 'lhls year we re peated our promlnence first by placmg many of our members on the athletlc teams then by the Jumor boys wlnnmg hrst place rn the lndoor track meet and by the Jumor glrls basketball team s holding the school champlonshxp Now we are on the home stretch Semors' Our drgmty IS largely counter balanced by our great re sponslbxlxty Our officers th1s year are Edmund Bart lett presxdent Betty Steele vlce pres1dent Joyce Jen k1ns secretary and Leslle Petrle treasurer Art Mayes pres1dent of the Student Councnl and Betty Jean North and Gordon Lovell as our other representat1ves We are st11l contmumg our fine record not only m athletrcs but m other hnes as well The football team defeated both East Orange and Bloomfield The Dra matlc Club won the New York Play Contest We are now workmg hard on the Semor entertamment and are not forgettmg that we are to represent M H S 1n the College Boards The class of 28 does not wlsh to appear concelted but IS only justly proud of 1ts accomphshments And so departlng leave behmd us footprmts on the sands of t1me - - I . . .1- V U 0 u l 1 Q 1 ' - ' , 7 7 ' 1 1 . . ., . , . - ' ' . 7 . . , , . . . . - . . .
