This year the girls swim team consisted of four members. Theresa Surprenant, senior and captain, Debbie Berkey, senior and co- captain, Andrea Niemietz, senior exchange student, and Gigi Raymond, sophomore. Coach Sellas once again returning along with Michael Valois and Su Tran as assis- tants and support team. The team had a good year individually, although they lacked enthused swimmers. Andrea was a key addition, she's an exchange student from Austria, she has been swimming since she was eight. She was strong in backstroke and butterfly, coming tenths of a second from State time. More important- ly, though, she gave the other swimmers the incentive to hang in there when it got rough. Theresa, returning for the fourth and final year, did well in backstroke in the City B meet taking third place. She was also the most spirited on the team, she would always cheer someone up after a disappointing loss. Gigi has excelled in all events since her freshman year. She hopes to go to City A next year and her ulti- mate goal is State. Debbie, despite swimming with an injured shoulder, did fair, she took eighth in the City B in freestyle. A special thanks to Coach Sellas, Michael and Su, and congratulations swimmers, on a fine season. Theresa gives Debbie some pointers on her upcoming events. The Coach and team take a breather before going home. Gigi Raymond: Hi, Mom! Gigi and Coach talk about her Breaststroke. Ui, Girl . ii .i., ..,. . v T if X Mig 1 -ni
