Balarat GOOD PLACE to CAMP is the trans- lation of Balarat, Denver Public Schools outdoor recreation Facility. To numerous students, year round, it provides an entirely new learning envi- ronment, not available in the city. Learning is done through experiencing, seeing, touching, and exploring the great outdoors. Fifth graders experience overnight ad- ventures, and high school students gain the important role of resident counsel- ors, assisting with supervision and teaching of the younger students. It all started in 1969 with 750 acres of land near Jamestown, Colorado pro- vides a rich history which reflects on eras of the past.
