Clothing styles have changed through the years drastically. How, in the 198O's, tl1e main items are shoes. People go crazy over Fila's, Adidas, Reeboks, and Hikes. l'lI admit that when I have a new pair of beautiful black or white Reeboks, I look forward to coming to school. Levi SOI jeans were really popular, but they're slowly fading away. l.O.U. sweatshirts are becoming real popular now. Letterjackets are also very in , l wonder what the future holds for clothing styles. Probably Reynolds Wrap and Aluminum Foil. who knows? All I can say is that we ll-lumansl have done really well in the progression of styles through the years. Thank You Jeff Tarantino, 9 P,S. Thme are the tennis shoe days. You have to buy a ring, prom dress or suit, yearbooks, Ietterjackets, announcements, dues:just ridicu- lousl I feel schools should pay for announcements, yearboolcs and jackets for certain athletes. We should not have to shove out all this money to graduate. Marvina Franklin, 11 . , .WEEKENDS On weekends,l sometimes go downtown to the few art galleries that carry abstract and pop an and look at the art critically like I really know what it means. One weekend a friend and I went to the Tabor Center and visited with her punk and new wave friends. I was so nervous the whole time because I was so out of place. But for many of us, this humdrum routine was altered by the availabil- ity of classes of the i'ARTS . A variety of choices such as dance, drawing and painting, and stagecralt just to name a few, were the type of classes that made going to school more than just a daily routine. fa- . For the third year in a row, Montbello has had the privilege of hosting exchange students from lsrael for 8 days in the fall. Lee Anderson, Surai Basanow, Tia Brown, Nichelle Harris, Traci Hughes, Rance Poole, and Kelley Ryan were the Warriors that shared this special experience with their guests: Dagit Weisman, Dana Child, Irit Segev, Sharon Azari, Bambi Zilberstein, Lior Tsarfaty, and Orit Bushkanits re- spectively. Many educational and enter- taining activities were planned for the students, native and foreign alike, and the Warriors managed to involve the students in such extracurricular activities as the Haunted House and Halloween Costume Dance on November 1. The lsrael students, having al- ready spent a week in Atlanta, agreed that their stay in Denver was undoubtedly the highlight of their trip. On Monday, November 5, they departed for Washington D.C., and not without a tearfully painful farewell reception at Stapleton In- ternational Airport. All of the stu- dents involved will agree that the comraderie that arose among the students is one with lasting im- pact, and the friendships made will remain with each of them throughout his life. Lior Tsarfaty, Bambi Zilberstein, Rance Poole, and Irit Segev showed the Warriors how teenagers around the world are, in most ways, very much alike. l L! Makes Head y Montbello Student Council has always been involved in important issues at our school, and this year was no exception. During the Student Council's December 17th l'State of Montbello Address assem- bly, one of the issues discussed was the problem with drinking and driving. The realization of this problem was par- tially sparked by the S.A.D.D. tStudents Against Drunk Drivingl but perhaps the greatest impact on the student body re- garding this issue was made when three Montbello Alumni were lost, one at the hands of a drunk driver. These tragedies have served to awaken all Montbello stu- dents to the harshness and severity of to- day's social problems in America. Our Student Council, however, did not only point out these social ills, but also proposed ways of coping with them. The Peer Counselling idea was the first to emerge along this line. Keep up the good work in dealing with relevant issues. ri.: r...l n... nm.. ls...-.. l:. iw mn. :...l..l swan, r...... ...., .. ,.... ..., ...i ..,,.... l. -1 -s,....l .......i.- u. ...n i. . Hike, Levi, Trapper Keeper, and Adidas were just a few of the brand names that flashed in front of your eyes on the way to your classes! With a television agent, Montbello's student body could have made millions of dollars doing commercials for almost every product that was on the market. Ifwe did make some commercials they would've looked some- thing like this: Air Jordan, l'like's stylish basketball shoes gave you great speed as you ran through the crowded halls on your way to class, as well as great speed on the basket- ball court! Levi's stonewashed jeans and jackets came in many fashionable colors and they took the wear and tear of everyday student life, sitting in those hard classroom chairs, those lunchtime football games and much, much more! Mr. John Bowie, our former principal, was bestowed the title of Grand Marshall of the parade. Several of our school organizations were invited to participate. The JROTC, cheerleaders, and marching band took part and lead the parade through our community. Local organizations such as churches, elementary schools, and the new Martin Luther King Middle School, also participated.
