The Student Council, composed of the officers and executive committee of the Associated Students of Montana School of Mines, functions as a co- ordinating organization between faculty and students. It has the responsibility of general supervision over extra-curricular campus traditions and the pro- motion of student affairs. Projects which this year ' s council helped complete were the M-Day activi- ties, and it also played an instrumental part in naming the Student Union Building. 64

WHO ' S WHO The six students pictured were the Montana School of Mines electees to Who ' s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Can- didates for this honor are selected from seniors who are eligible for graduation in June. The method of selection is that the heads of the degree-granting de- partments, the registrar, and the student body president are asked to submit to the Dean names of seniors who they believe are qualified for nomination. Those receiving the highest number of votes are nominated. In order to be considered for this honor a student must show evidence of the following qualities: Excellence and sincerity of scholarship, leadership and participation in extracurricular and academic activities, citizenship and service to the school, and promise of future usefulness to business and society.
