Although ably mentored by Coach Ed Simonich, the team was v eak both in depth and experience, and plagued by Asiatic flu and injuries. Halfback Tom Martin led the Miner offense on the ground with an average of six plus yards per carry, while Quarterback Gary Riley completed 26 passes out of 55 tries to lead the conference. As Coach Simonich stated, As far as fighting determination on the squad, there ' s been no equal. (72)
