Entering as a student in 1907 and later as the wife of a former professor and dean of this institution, she long has been associated with campus life and activity. I Q if i isf f -f f 1 S Dr. Howard was also honored at the same banquet and spoke briefly of his long association with the univer- sity. Because of the long years of tenure, Dr. Howard had the honored position at the head of the swing out for graduation. .: -. ,f 4. ? E as Ez K A' Mrs. Spaulding receives a token of appreciation from President Castle at a banquet held to honor her 'i.'V' retirement. V61 JOSEPH WHITNEY HOWARD It must be noted that at the time of retirement, Dr. Howard's 44 years of service at MSU make him the oldest faculty member in point of service. He was a charter member of the Montana Section of the American Chemical Society. Other activities included Interscholastic general chairman 11942-543, and noted work on new synthetic organic compounds. 19 fl.
