WOMEN'S DAY The 47th annual Women's Day was held April 26 in the Student Union Ball- room. Numerous awards were passed out, among them: Linda Bourdet re- ceived the highest honor, chosen five- year speaker, which means that she will return in 1975 to address the Wom- en's Day audience. Janis Lachenmaier took the Herrick Award, named for tor- mer Dean of Women, Una B. Herrick and considered the second highest achievement Women's Day can offer. Both ot these girls were seniors from Bozeman. The junior attainment cup went to Linda Van Daveer of Belgrade. Patsy Wegner of East Helena was an- nounced Women's Day chairman for 1971. Giving the five-year speaker speech was Mrs. Edith Olson McCor- mick, a 1965 graduate from Absa- rokee. Her theme: Happiness Hap- pens as You Live. Helen Fechter, MSU registrar, was named Outstanding Alumna. She retired during the summer from the position she held since 1964.
