 The agronomy option is offered for those students interested in studying plants, attaining new varieties, and investigating plant diseases. The prospective ag econ omists may choose business, farm, or professional econ as their special field. This department will train these boys as professional agriculturists. Many will qo back to farms . . . others will be the ag teachers in hiqh schools .. . some will continue in college grad work . . . others will find their place in industry . .. while others will be employed by the government. IdJe talked With Ou i 2)eattd DR. MAURICE M. KELSO Dean of Agriculture TNIVISION OF AGRICULTURE — Under the direction of Dean Kelso the Aggies learn the various phases of agriculture scientifically. If you were to venture into one of the labs on any afternoon you would find the boys in denim engaged in activities such as cutting meats .... judging grain . . . dairy judging . . . testing for butterfat . . . and judging hogs and beef cattle. Under the manufacturing option of dairy industry those future creamery operators, research workers, and other professionals are trained for their jobs. The production division of dairy emphasizes the best methods of raising and breeding better stock. At some time within their senior year the future ag teachers are required to practice teach for six weeks. At this time they gain first hand experience with the classes they have talked about for three years and now are in charge of. 14

Schillinq heads Ihis mostly male department. Roberls Hall houses the instructional staff that annually produces some of the nation's best engineers. Those interested in Mechanical En-gineeering find themselves spending much of their time in Ryan Lab. Motors . . . . electricity . . . blueprints ... all an integral part of the instruction that enables these men to master the big machines of today. Designing . . . drafting . . . contracting . . . calculating . . and investigating are parts of the architects' education which enable them to plan the modern buildings of today and of tomorrow. The men with special interest in research and development will some day apply practical operation of some discovery of chemistry and physics.
