(YVl. S- C- Dear Bobcats gone to war: The following military section is a cross section of you MSC fellows who were on the campus last year—these of you who aren’t here now. because you are fighting for something typified by the Alma Mater you left behind. Our gratitude goes to your parents and friends who answered our inquiries so promptly with such an abundance of material. We only wish we could publish every interesting letter. The section had to he cut down to these few pages and therefore much of the material could not he used. In some cases there is very little left and probably now most of you aren’t doing what it says here. Maybe its better that way. because it was probably a military secret anyway. At any rate wc want you fellows to know how much we miss you here. Kven though things arc on a small scale, we are proud to say that most of the traditions are being kept alive. Some that took place too late to go in the hook were the rr-pledging of Fangs and an M Day coining up. The . 1 should he very glad to sec cs because she hasn’t had a new dress since the fall of ’43. As 1 write this 1 can hear an uproar outside—it’s coming from Fang initiation. The three active Fangs really are taking a heating today. Glenn Kennedy has been thrown in the fish pond three times already. And so—wc just wanted to let you know that we are very anxious to give the strings of the campus hack to you; the strings that give life and variety, as well as function, to our campus—things like painting the Senior Bench when you were Freshmen. passing cigars and five-pounds, and all those things not mentionablc here. You arc the rightful owners of these strings, hut we arc glad to keep things “cooking while you arc away. Sincerely, our fellow Bobcats Page Thirty
