Faculty; Students Today's student is more demanding. . .Today's professor must be more providing. The days of house-painting summers for teachers are over. Educators who formerly enjoyed lengthy sunshine sojourns now find this time fiLied as students themselves. Others broaden their intellectual horizons with educational excursions or extensive reading programs. The acquisition of this knowledge soon benefits the students too, as their instructors and professors pass it right on down to the newest freshman. This new breed of professor spearheads a campus curriculum that is graduating some of the nation's top students. Eastern is slowly shedding the title of teachers college as more and more courses are added and more and more professional fields are opened. Already, future doctors, engineers, and other pre-professional people are receiving the basics of their respective professions. This additional zeal, coupled with a growing, realistic curriculum, is both meeting and beating our educational challenge.

Response in Facilities Silhouetted against the towering rimrocks of the Silver Dollar City, Billings, one can easily see the $2.5 million Student Services Building which opened at the beginning of Winter Quarter. This building carries facilities for a modern, compact and practical women's dormitory for 300 co-eds. Sitting majestically on the east side of the campus is the new Physical Education Building with a seating capacity of 4,000 people, an olympic-size swimming pool, and classrooms and offices. With the flowering of these two buildings came the much-needed improvement to the former student union. Converted to the Music Hall, it houses the Foreign Language Laboratory, boasts the most modern equipment for individual listening, and features tape-recording facilities and recordcutting apparatus. All of these give foreign language students a better opportunity for improving oral comprehension of the four foreign languages offered at Eastern. There is evidence of more improvements, including the possibility of a new library and many other modern buildings. In the future. Eastern will continue to expand as in years past ... but to a much larger degree. Watch for the boom to balloon. Foreign Language Laboratory Control Board.
