During a year dominated by satellites, by multitudinous plans for the reformation of the American educational system, and by alternating hopes and fears, you, the students of Eastern, have added another chapter in the history of the college, recording your activities and achievements. It is noteworthy that you have attempted to maintain a good balance between your educational pursuits and your other college-related enterprises. There has been no tendency to study in any particular subject area in such a way as to impair your over-all educational development. Neither was there apparent a desire to avoid your responsibilities, an over-emphasis of the non-academic aspects of college life. For this you are to be commended. For many of you, there has been the sudden realization of your responsibility to yourself and your country to make the best use of the educational opportunities available to you. The benefits of this will be evident in the years ahead as you assume positions of leadership and authority, both in Montana, and elsewhere in the nation. It is my firm belief that an alumni reunion twenty years hence will justify my faith in you. PAGE 30 H. L. STEELE; President
