PROGRAM FOR ATHLETES The athletic program at Eastern is designed to tram fine qualities in its athletes. The participants of the major sports of the college are also outstanding students academically and rank high as student leaders on the campus. The Yellowjackets of Eastern are a first-division team in football, basketball, baseball and track. The fighting spirit and stinging power of the Yellowjackets make them one of the most feared opponents of any collegiate conference athletic group. )

THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT The Science Department at Eastern offers preparation for a wide variety of careers for students. The increasing number of students preparing to teach high school science and mathematics has necessitated expansion of the entire Science Department During the past year courses have been added m such fields as gynetics. embryology, bio-ecology, and additional work in geology. PRE-NURSING STUDENTS Many students take their work in prenursing at Eastern. The group shown below are some of the pre-nursing students who participated in a tea held at Eastern during the Winter quarter.

A COSMOPOLITAN STUDENT BODY Eastern’s student body is indeed a cosmopolitan group. In it aie many former h gh school leaders, such as valedictorians, salutatorians, student body presidents. Key Club members, and a large number of high school class officers, high school paper and yearbook editors During the 1956-57 year. 15 states and five foreign countries were represented in the student body. Shown above is Miss Eetty Lysler. director of Student Activities at the college, welcoming some students from distant places. RELIGIOUS EMPHASIS ON CAMPUS The important place of religion in the life of the college student is recognized by Eastern students and faculty. A reception held last fall introduced students to the ministers of billings. Religious Emphasis Week, also an event of the year, is looked forward to by the students. Members of the student body attend churches of their own denomination in the city. There are 58 denominational groups in Billings. Shown below at the Interdenominational Mixer last fall are. left to right, the Rev. David Dwyer of St Patrick’s parish; Donald Benson, Carol Birmingham, David Bradley; Dr. T F Rutledge Beale of the First Congregational Church; Miss Betty L. Lyster, Jane Harney. Mrs. Harry Fay, a hostess; and Dr A G. Peterson, president of Eastern.
