Text from Pages 1 - 80 of the 1955 volume:

Wfl3UCh«OZ COD -JQ«ZO As this annual was dedicated to two instructors who devoted so much time toward student instruction and student participation in campus activities, so should the theme be representative of the many students in the teacher training program who have found, and will find, teaching positions as a result of their preparation at Eastern. Therefore, our theme is built around the young adult teacher, upon which is based the foundation of the training program at Eastern. He is interested in not only the attainment of a degree, but in the active participation of club work, sports, music, and all those programs that are so important to his teaching career. The Annual Staff Dedication Administration Classes Music Drama Clubs Activities Sports Dr. Ricard L. Henderson, former Dean of Education, will 1 cr.-Z be remembered by EMCOE students. H:s ever-present smile and friendly manner was a constant source of encouragement to all students. It is more than fitting that an annual with an educational iheme be dedicated to one who has made so vast a contribution to the profession. Dr. Richard L. Henderson Edward White, former Student Activities Director, and personal friend of each student will remain, in the minds .of those students with whom he worked, as one who was devoted toward the betterment of Eastern and to the interest of furnishing, for the student, a program of orientation, entertainment, and a feeling of school spirit that can hardly said to be excelled. He, with very little student cooperation, compiled the 1954 annual. He strived constantly to publish an EMCOE that would meet the approval of the entire student body. Thus, it is only proper that this co-dedication include the name of “Ed” White, and that he be remembered for years to come for his devotion to Eastern, and to the student body. Edward White OPTIMISM Talk happiness. The world is sad enough Without your woes. No path is wholly rough; Look for the places that are smooth and clear, And speak of those to rest the weary ear Of earth, so hurt by one continuous strain Of human discontent and grief and pain. Talk faith. The world is better off without Your uttered ignorance and morbid doubt. If you have faith in God, or man, or self, Say so. If not, push back upon the shelf Of silence al! your thoughts, till faith shall come; No one will grieve because your lips are dumb. Talk health. The dreary, never-changing tale Of mortal maladies is worn and stale. You cannot charm, or interest, or please By harping on that minor chord, disease. Say you are well or all is well with you, And God shall hear your words and make them true. Ella Wheeler Wilcox Dr. A. G. Peterson President Dr. R. N. Lowe Assistant to the President Once again the combined efforts of a few outstanding students make possible the publication of another Rimrock annual. It is interesting to note the growth of the annual along with the growth of the College. We hope the students who receive this annual will find in it items of interest which will recall their more pleasurable experiences. Eastern is a growing college. We know you will be proud of the direction in which it will go and the greatness it will achieve. Miss Marjorie A Stevenson Health Physical Education Mrs. Dora Reese Reading Consultant u Mr. Oscar M.
